Borneo is a land blessed with wildlife and unparalleled natural beauty as well as abundant natural resources. It is the largest island in Asia, with a rich history and diverse ethnic groups.
At an estimated 130 million years old, Borneo's rainforest is two times as old as the Amazon rainforest in South America. Evidence for prehistoric human occupation of Borneo has been found at Neah Cave in Sarawak, including fossil bones, stone tools, and wall and ceiling paintings. Borneo is first mentioned in Ptolemy’s Guide to Geography of about 150 CE. Roman trade beads and Indo-Javanese artifacts have been discovered that give evidence of a flourishing civilization dating to the 2nd or 3rd century CE.
Borneo is one island with 3 countries; Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei.

Visit Portugal Travel Trade Marketplace | |

Porto, Portugal served as the home spot for the 2023 Visit Portugal Travel Trade Marketplace. The event was the first big industry in-person event for Portugal since the pandemic. Over 120 buyers from Canada and the United States and over 60 sellers gathered at Hotel Pestana Douro Riverside and Pestana Palácio do Freixo.
“The logistics are quite complicated in fact because we're bringing 120 of the most important people that we treasure, which are our stakeholders – travel agents and tour operators from Canada and the United States,” Luis Araujo, President and CEO of Visit Portugal told TravelPulse. He is also the President of ETC – European Travel Commission since September 2020. (CTTO)

Araujo spoke to the buyers and Nuno Fazenda, Portugal's Secretary of Tourism addressed all attendees on Tuesday night. Both shared messages on Portugal’s tourism initiatives and how important it was for all of us to be there together.
“Tourism is recovering, and we are reaching new records in terms of revenues,” Fazenda said. “We are growing with a great increase in US markets.”
The one and a half day in person marketplace ended up with a grand gala dinner at the Palacio da Bolsa, a national monument located in the historical center of the city, classified as World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It was a night to be remembered.
