Safe Streets & Roads for All Roundtable



You're invited to the TPA's Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Roundtable, a local discussion on the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) discretionary grant program! The event will bring SS4A grant awardees and potential applicants together to share lessons learned, provide plan development updates, and discuss implementation grants.


Applications are now open for the next round of SS4A grants, which aims to support communities in planning and implementing projects to reduce traffic-related deaths and serious injuries. Register at PalmBeachTPA.org/SS4ARoundtable to attend the workshop in-person or virtually.

Distracted Driving Awareness Month



On average, nine people a day are killed in distracted driving crashes, but a few simple steps can reduce the risks for yourself and others. Click the button below to join the National Safety Council (NSC) this April for Distracted Driving Awareness Month and help spread the message that when you’re behind the wheel, your only job is to drive.

TPA Florida Bicycle Month Ride


The Palm Beach TPA celebrated Florida Bicycle Month on March 29 at our annual bike ride! Staff and our Executive Director, Valerie Neilson, joined Governing Board members and members of the public on a two-part ride through Downtown West Palm Beach and the Town of Palm Beach.

TPA Board Florida Bicycle Month Proclamation


The TPA Governing Board recognized March as Florida Bicycle Month during its March meeting. Thank you to the 28 municipalities, organizations, and agencies in Palm Beach County who also passed proclamations last month! The TPA is excited to see the growing support for safe bicycling to create a safe, efficient, and connected multimodal transportation system.

WPBGo Bike Valet service open to all bike users for two months only!

Downtown West Palm Beach Bike Valet



If you’ve ever thought about riding your bike to work, Florida Bicycle Month is the perfect time to start! WPBgo and OneParking are collaborating to provide free, secure valet bike parking service open to all bike users in Downtown West Palm Beach. Bikes will be stored in a secure, covered room within 360 Rosemary, and can be picked up anytime between 7:30 a.m. and 10 p.m. weekdays. The pilot program is planned to continue through April 30th.

Bicycle Friendly Designations



The Bike League’s Bicycle Friendly America (BFA) program provides communities, businesses, and universities with assistance in building more bicycle-friendly places. The BFA program is a tool to make bicycling a real transportation and recreation option for all people, sets standards for what constitutes a real bicycling culture and environment, and recognizes those doing it well. The BFA program deadline for businesses is June 5, for communities is July 25, and for universities is August 8.

Funding & Grant Opportunities

Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant Program is aimed at supporting communities in planning and implementing projects to reduce traffic-related deaths and serious injuries. Applications for the Planning and Demonstration Grants are due April 4, May 16, & August 29, and can be received by any of the three dates. Applications for the Implementation Grants are due May 16, but may also apply by August 29 if unsuccessful.


The Active Transportation Infrastructure Investment Program is a new competitive grant program created by the Federal Highway Administration that will fund projects to provide safe and connected active transportation facilities that integrate with transit services. Applications are due June 17.

Transportation Resources

FHWA’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) website serves as a one-stop shop for FHWA’s implementation of the law, including information on funding, assistance, education, and guidance.


U.S. DOT’s Equity website provides plans and resources for delivering a more equitable transportation system.


DOT Navigator helps communities understand the best ways to apply for grants and plan for and deliver transformative infrastructure projects and services.


U.S. DOT Equitable Transportation Community (ETC) Explorer is an interactive web application that uses 2020 Census Tracts and data to explore the cumulative burden communities experience as a result of underinvestment in transportation.


U.S. DOT Intersection Safety Challenge is transforming intersection safety through the development of innovative intersection safety systems that identify, predict, and mitigate unsafe conditions involving vehicles and vulnerable road users.


Safe Mobility Coalition Resources: Whether you are an older adult, family member caregiver, aging service provider, or safety advocate, you will find helpful educational materials and information to help improve the safety, access, and mobility of Florida's aging road users.


Electric Bicycle (E-Bike) Resources: The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is advancing research on e-bikes to better understand trends and impacts, and how jurisdictions around the country are managing them.


E-Scooter Safety Toolbox: A new resource guide, informed by and developed as part of a Behavioral Traffic Safety Cooperative Research Project, that offers concise, evidence-based recommendations to help state and local agencies deliver e-scooter safety programs.


Florida Statewide Transit Survey: The marketing firm BowStern has created a survey for anyone in Florida to complete; both riders and non-riders.


Target Zero Resources: Target Zero was established in the Strategic Highway Safety Plan to provide a framework for how Florida’s communities work to achieve the national vision of zero fatalities and serious injuries.


Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices: On December 19, a final rule adopting the 11th Edition of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) for Streets and Highways was published in the Federal Register, which includes a number of updates to improve safety for pedestrians, bicyclists, and all road users.
