Phoenix, Valley Metro and FTA Sign $158.1 million FFGA for Second Phase of Light-Rail Project
The grant is provided through FTA’s Capital Investment Grants program and will help fund the project that will add 1.6 miles, three stations, three bridges, a parking structure and a multimodal transit center to Valley Metro’s light-rail system. Read More.
Southwest Area Regional Transit District Receives Federal Award for COVID-19 Response
TheSouthwest Area Regional Transit District, or SWART, was one of six transit providers nationwide that received a “Connecting Rural Communities” award from the Federal Transit Administration.
SWART serves an eight-county region west of San Antonio, including communities such as Uvalde, Carrizo Springs and Eagle Pass. It serves passengers within those cities and connects them to San Antonio, Kerrville, and Del Rio. Read More.
STAR Transit Launches Demand Response Service in DeSoto, Texas
Effective Dec. 1, demand response service will operate Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Route 501 is cancelled with STAR Transit applying those resources to provide timely and convenient rides for its customers. Passengers who have been depending on Route 501 for rides to the DART UNT Station can use STARNow to book travel according to their individualized schedules.Read More.

Dallas Area Rapid Transit Works to Update 10K Signs as Part of Bus Network Overhaul
Under the new bus system, all routes and route numbers will change to address significant growth in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, according to DART. The goal of the plan, known as DARTzoom, is to provide more frequency and hours that buses will run. The overhaul also covers more areas and offers more direct routes, according to the transit agency. Read More.
