At New Pathways for Youth, the energy of our Garfield Summer Program participants fills the building as the youth gear up to return to school! Youth like Emily are excited for the new school year after a summer of food, fun, and preparing for academic greatness! The Garfield Summer Program closes a critical gap in learning loss that often takes place during the summer. For youth coming from low income communities like the Garfield area where the per capita household income is $7,800, the school drop out rate is five times higher than their higher-income peers.

Youth like Emily walk to our center daily for academic enrichment and support. In a safe place to learn and grow, Emily is improving her math skills through hands on activities like the ones facilitated by Toyota Financial Services during STEM week. These meaningful interactions and experiences will have a lasting impact on Emily's future and provide her with the foundation to pursue her goals of being a Police Officer--something she learned about during Career Week thanks to support from the City of Phoenix Police Department.

Increasing Opportunities for Local Youth

We are proud to announce the expansion of our mentoring program, right in the heart of the Garfield community. Individuals who work or live in the downtown community can be matched with youth living near them!

Help create new opportunities for youth like Emily who live in the Garfield community where the crime right is 86% higher than the national average. Be a positive adult role model and help make a difference in the lives of our youth.

Thank you Summer Program Volunteers!

At New Pathways for Youth, we believe youth take actions consistent with the future they see for themselves... therefore, we provide experiences that expand their possibilities.

It is this belief, among many, that ground the principles of all our programs.  But it is the participation of volunteers within our community who allow us to live this belief everyday and it is those interactions and experiences that allow our youth to truly see beyond their current circumstances to create new possibilities for their future.

This summer, our youth were able to participate in experiences that were truly meaningful and transformative. From learning about different professions from partners like the Phoenix Suns, an LGPA golfer and a film producer, to planting a garden with help from the Hispanic Leadership Institute, we know our youth will return back to school ready to learn!

Thank you to all the volunteers who make a difference in the lives of the youth we serve!

Opportunities to volunteer with our After School Program are available. Contact Katie for more information.
