Transfer Scholarships Selected

OC Foundation is proud to honor Oxnard College transfer students with scholarship grants at the Transfer Recognition Ceremony on May 8th. Nearly $50,000 will be awarded to 54 students from 14 different scholarship funds.

A few scholarship grants, such as the Carnegie Art Cornerstones Scholarship and the Luke Langelier Memorial Scholarship, will be awarded for the first time for the 2024/2025 academic year.

RSVP for the May 11 Athletic Hall of Fame

The OC Athletic Alumni Association is hosting its third annual Hall of Fame Banquet on Saturday, May 11 at 11:00am in the OC Performing Arts Conference Center. The banquet recognizes the accomplishments of former student-athletes, honors exceptional campus and community leaders, and celebrates the role athletics plays within Oxnard College.

2024 Hall of Fame inductees are Tenley Garcia ‘01, star Soccer athlete from 1999-2001; and Jon Larson, head Baseball coach from 1998-2018. Longtime athletic trainer and equipment manager, Marti Dibble, will receive the prestigious Lifetime Condor Award.

Annual OC Family Festival a Success

The third annual OC Family Festival attracted another large crowd of community members onto the Oxnard College campus.

Hundreds of students and campus personnel hosted activities, games, and large kids fun zone. An estimated 3,500 attendees enjoyed live entertainment, shopping at the Marketplace, food trucks, and access to over 40 community organizations. It was an extraordinary success.

The event was coordinated by the Oxnard College Marketing Department, supported by a long list of exceptional leaders, and financially sponsored by the OC Foundation, Montecito Bank & Trust, and the Children's Dental FunZone.

TRIO SSS Recognizes 2024 Graduates

The OC Foundation has supported OC TRIO Student Support Services for the past couple of years, seeing extraordinary success. Led by Katie Pena, SSS is a federally funded program serving 140 students each year. The OC Foundation has been able to support its workshops and special events, which are designed to develop strong relationship bonds, wellness exercises, and nourishment.

SSS hosted its graduation exercises this week, showcasing the impact of programs designed to drive success in students who are both low-income and first generation.

Time remains for students who plan to attend Oxnard College next school year to apply of scholarship grants.

The OC Foundation awards over $250,000 in scholarship grants to Oxnard College recipients every year. Students are invited to attend weekly application workshops hosted by the OC Foundation and supported by the Library Learning Resource Center. Join us on OC Foundation Fridays with our workshops - offered both in-person and via Zoom. Students may sign up through our Linktree: https://linktr.ee/oxnardcollegefoundation.

We're recruiting Scholarship Reviewers

Perhaps the greatest impact a volunteer can provide through the OC Foundation is by reviewing and scoring scholarship applications. We're receiving a big increase in applications compared to last year with time remaining before the application period closes.

With an average of 2-3 hours to review and score each batch of applications, Scholarship Reviewers will receive the training, support, and tools they need to be a part of a committee.

There are two remaining rounds of review this year:

Continuing/Returning applications - June
Entering applications - July

School of STEM Recognition Ceremony attracts large attendance

The annual School of STEM End of the Year Recognition was an incredible success. Students and their families gathered in the Condor Cafe for an evening of recognition, special guest presentations, and a reception. The special evening was organized and managed by the students.

The OC Foundation is a proud sponsor of the STEM Department, which annually welcomes a strong cohort of students completing their studies at Oxnard College to then transfer to four-year universities.
