Overview
Next week, on or about Tuesday, April 14, 2020, a new traffic pattern will go into effect as Downtown Crossing Phase 2 construction work progresses to Stage 6. Additionally, occasional single lane closures will continue throughout the project area. Please see below for details about the lane closures, the traffic shift, as well as a rendering that illustrates the Stage 6 traffic pattern.

Lane Closures
Between  Monday, April 6 - Friday, April 17, 2020 , various single lane closures may occur on the following roads to accommodate construction:

·        South Frontage Road:  between South Orange Street and College Street
·        Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard:  between Orange Street and Church Street

Traffic Shift
On or about Tuesday, April 14th a new traffic pattern will go into place on MLK Boulevard. When the new pattern goes into effect the left-turn only lane on MLK Boulevard at Church Street will be removed. Left turns onto Church Street from MLK Boulevard will still be allowed, but drivers will no longer have a lane designated solely for that purpose.

Additionally, the total number of lanes on MLK Boulevard, from its beginning at the Oak Street Connector until the Church Street intersection, will be reduced from five to four.

Roadside signage will alert drivers to these changes. D elays may occur as motorists get acclimated to the new traffic patterns.

Work Hours
All Downtown Crossing related work for this two-week period (Monday, April 6 - Friday, April 17, 2020) is scheduled to occur during daytime work hours. Daytime work hours are weekdays between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Any construction work that may impact traffic flow will not occur between 7 and 9 a.m. or between 3 and 6 p.m. on Monday through Friday.

Road signage will alert drivers and pedestrians to work areas and lane closures.

Please pay attention to this signage, slow down, and stay safe!
