TST's Family Proudly
Wears Patriotism
on its Sleeve
With Memorial Day at the end of this month, we thought it only fitting to report on the long line of patriotism of which TradeShow Teacher President & Founder Linda Musgrove is an active part.
The family's multi-generational commitment is reflected by their vigorous involvement and mark they have made on the American Legion, a large veterans' group that helps and assists fellow veterans and the community.

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 367 Royal Palm Beach (FL) is currently under the leadership of Linda's mother Marge Herzog. The family's dedication to the organization dates back to Marge's grandmother (Linda's great grandmother) Marie Goedek, who raised her five sons to always give back to the country for which they all also served in different branches of service in WWII.
Marge's parents were also long-time members of the organization, "incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness," and would often bring the family to social events at the local Post.
When Marge married Marine George Herzog (pictured together very top), they continued the family's time-honored tradition of "giving back" by joining their local Post as active members. They proudly march in the annual Memorial Day Parade handing out the Memorial Poppy Flowers, recognized worldwide for remembering and honoring those who have served their country in war, along the parade route.
Naturally, Marge & George's daughter Linda Musgrove perpetuated the tradition intrinsic in her upbringing by passing it down to yet another generation when she signed her daughter Rose (pictured above) as a member of the American Legion Auxiliary the week she was born.
Rose has helped with the famed Memorial Day poppy distribution many times understanding that the flowers are made as a part of the veterans' rehabilitation program in the VA Medical Center in Tampa. Participating veterans earn a small payment for each poppy they make with money collected by the Units being used solely to support veteran-related needs.
The American Legion is the nation's largest wartime veterans service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to its fellow service members and veterans.

Trade Show Tip of the Month: Role-playing
Leading up to an event you must have your team practice their skills. Working a trade show is different than working a typical sales call, while the talking points may be the same the process is slightly different. Role-playing will be your most successful route. Have your staff practice pulling people in as they walk by as well as their elevator pitch once people are in the booth. Being able to effectively pull people in will be just as important as keeping their attention once they stop, so practicing both will be very important to your success.
Pulling people in and keeping their attention is like a live prospecting call, and prospecting can be a difficult skill to master. Have your sales team practice 1-2 times per week over the few weeks leading up to the event. To get the most out of the practice have your staff score each other or offer specific feedback to the other team member. Two heads are always better than one, so by collaborating and offering up feedback your team will come up with better tactics than if they just made them up on the fly once at the event.
Sometimes it is difficult to get booth staffers to be professional during he role-play part of your training sessions. If you feel that training needs something different, consider bringing in an outsider - someone unknown to the staff - a rep from another branch, an industry friend or vendor.
Your employees will up their game when it comes to making an impression to a stranger. |

Electronically Enhancing Your Exhibit Experience
Electronics, digitalization and in-booth technology is becoming less a craze and exceedingly more commonplace in exhibiting each and every year.
Effectively reflecting your company's pulse on cutting-edge market trends and innovations has a tremendous impact on its widespread credibility and relevance within any given industry.
Whether an electronic exchange of information between exhibitor and attendee to promotional photo booths with social media integration - and everything in between - being "plugged in" (or wireless as the case may be) to the electronic landscape of global commerce is critical to remain sustainable and competitive in the current economy.

Many of our suggestions to make your exhibit vibe more "electric" often also translate, in the long-term, to a more economical, efficient and eco-friendly exhibiting experience overall.
