Top Gun Maverick

The Mayor and Board of Town Commissioners invite you to attend, to help us celebrate the grand opening of our newest Main Street business, Landon's Ices and Creams. This is the second location for this family & minority business, which has been operating a store in La Plata MD since 2019. Owner & founder, Lamar Hinson, grew up in the Town and his mother Evelyn Stephens still lives in Town and is active in the community. They moved into a vacant storefront that is connected to Marlboro Grille.

"Landon's Ices and Creams was birthed from the lack of safe and clean ice cream shops that Landon could enjoy without becoming ill. When we visited national chain ice cream shops Landon's allergy to peanuts was trigged by cross-contamination. Landon became ill with what we thought was a basic flavored ice cream. Larger chain ice cream shops became expensive and lacked the quality ingredients that we've come to enjoy. The cost didn't match the flavor. We set out to craft high-quality ice creams at home. By crafting ice cream at home, it allowed us to know the exact ingredients that were serving our children. Our family and friends loved the ice cream so much that they encouraged us to open a shop of our own. We tested our creations to the community without the expense of store build by wholesaling to restaurants locally throughout the county. The overwhelming support push us to take the leap into signing our lease in March 2019. We take pride in creating the finest homemade ice cream made on premises the best in Southern Maryland."
