RENOVATIONS UPDATE
Transfer Station
Transfer Station renovations are scheduled to begin on September 16, 2024, with a tentative completion date of November 9, 2024. The scheduled renovations will ensure facilities meet current operating standards and provide easier and safer access for all residents.
Renovations will include upgrading & relocation of recycling hoppers/compactors, excavating, regrading, paving, and facility reconfiguration. The Transfer Station main hopper will remain open during the majority of the phased construction. The facility will close for one week in late October or early November for fine grading and paving. Closure dates will be announced once finalized.
What Will Be Changing at the Transfer Station?
• Recycling hoppers will be upgraded and relocated. Recycling hoppers will be temporarily unavailable during renovations. During this time, recyclables can be discarded in the main hopper or retained until the new bins become available.
• The designated Transfer Station entrance and exit have been reversed to improve traffic flow through the facility. Please take note of new entrance/exit signage before entering the facility. A center parking area will also be added to improve safety and expedite compactor access.
• The Salvation Army and bottle donation bins have been removed and are no longer available at the Transfer Station.
• The "small metals" bin has also been removed from the Transfer Station facility. Please dispose of all metal items at the adjacent Bulky Waste facility located at 449 Leach Hill Rd.

Bulky Waste
The Bulky Waste Facility renovations are anticipated to begin on October 26, 2024, with a tentative completion date of January 10, 2025. Renovations will include excavating, grading, and demolishment & replacement of the concrete reinforced retaining walls.
PLEASE NOTE: The Bulky Waste Facility will be closed to the public during this renovation period.
What Will be Changing at the Bulky Waste Facility?
• New bulky waste receptacles/retaining walls will be installed to meet current operational and safety standards.
.
• The Bulky Waste access road will be re-graded and paved to improve user access.
• A new digital account system, recently approved by the Transfer Station Council, will be replacing the current printed bulky waste coupons when the facility reopens in January. All residents will be issued a barcoded window sticker for their vehicle and will no longer need to use the printed coupons after renovations are completed. Each eligible household will be issued one window sticker that will be coded to a specific vehicle. Additional vehicle stickers can be purchased for $15.00 each for households needing multiple vehicle stickers. Any unused print coupons that were issued to you for FY25 (green) can be turned in and credited to your new digital Bulky Waste account.
Updates and renovation progress reports will be posted at www.cascomaine.org and on the Town of Casco Facebook page. Thank you for your patience during these facilities upgrades.
