Town Opposes Bill to Remove Home Rule for Vacation Rental Management

House Bill 833 (HB 833) passed the Florida State House Ways & Means Committee today and is expected to be discussed by Florida State Senate committees next week. If passed, the bill will limit the authority of local governments to oversee vacation rentals and give regulatory power to the State.

We strongly believe that local government should retain this oversight. A one-size-fits-all approach to vacation rental regulations doesn’t benefit small towns like LBTS or address our unique concerns. We encourage our residents and business owners to reach out to our Florida legislators to express concern about removing Home Rule and advocate for keeping vacation rental authority with local governments.

  • State Senator Jason W.B. Pizzo (954) 893-5045
  • State Representative Chip LaMarca (850) 717-5093
