Tough Weekend in Elk River for Douglas
Douglas Motorsports had a very uncharacteristic weekend of racing at ERX Motor Park in Elk River, Minnesota. The AMSOIL Rusty's Off-Road Cooper Tire Walker Evans Racing PRO-4 completed every lap on the TORC event schedule yet was unable to finish on the podium. Despite this setback, Scott Douglas and his determined crew will use the weekend as an incentive to come back stronger than ever at the upcoming TORC Bark River event.

The first ever short-course off-road event at ERX Motor Park was nothing less than incredible. The permanently built .9 mile long layout had just about everything a short-course racer could ask for in a racetrack. There were rolling elevation changes, large jumps, and high-banked corners. The quick paced track even had an extensive sand section that featured two separate lanes. Along with the great track, the amenities for the race teams and fans were all top shelf.

Both rounds of racing saw Scott Douglas struggle with corner speed which ultimately resulted in a fourth place finish on Saturday. Looking to get back on the podium with another win, the team made some extreme changes that went a bit too far. The net result was a fifth place finish in Sunday's Round 8 race.

"First of hats off to Chris Carlson and his team for building an incredible race facility," remarked Scott Douglas. "The layout takes some of the characteristics of the other tracks on the TORC tour and adds some of its own personality. The dual lane sand section is really cool. I just wish we had a better handle on the track. The pit area, the camping, and the spectator area are all built with a purpose. It really is a great facility to not only race at, but to experience short-course off-road racing."

Douglas continued: "It just wasn't our weekend. My guys were working very hard improving the handling of the truck all weekend. The competition level is at such a high level sometimes extreme changes are needed with our truck set-up. Unfortunately it just didn't work in our favor this weekend. This will definitely push our team that much harder to get on top of the box at Bark River."

After the weekend at Elk River, Douglas Motorsports spent a full day of testing in Crandon in order to maximize their performance next week at the "Throwdown in the UP" at Bark River International Off-Road Raceway on July 30-31.

If you can't get to Bark River for the next rounds of racing, the event will be live on the Interne
t and streaming free at www.torcseries.com.
