About 24% of registered Idaho voters cast a ballot on Tuesday, with the majority participating in the Republican primary. We discuss the election results with Rep. Wendy Horman, winner of one of the most closely watched races. Then, Sen. Lori Den Hartog, Association of Idaho Cities director Kelley Packer, and Kevin Richert of Idaho Education News discuss the implications for future public policy, and how money spent on negative campaigns backfired across the board. We also hear reactions from successful candidates, including Josh Keyser who unseated incumbent Senate President Pro Tem Chuck Winder.

Primary no bump in the road for established Dems

Shari Baber will appear on the November ballot alongside incumbents Rep. Steve Berch and Sen. Rick Just in District 15, one of the few competitive purple districts. Quasi-incumbency benefitted Rep. Todd Achilles amid a four-way race in District 16, where incumbent Sen. Ali Rabe easily fended off an unorthodox challenger.

Biden wins Idaho Democratic Party caucus

Idaho Capital Sun: A total of 2,412 votes means voter turnout was exceedingly low on Thursday evening. Several Democratic caucus goers and elected officials said that they would prefer to vote for president in a primary election instead of a separate caucus.
