Tollgate Farm Park Summer News

Tollgate Farm Park is a unique community asset where a working farm is part of a community park infrastructure. Farm operations in our farmland leasing program for new and/or small farmers include grazing, pasture raised meats, and agricultural field production with flowers and sustainably grown produce. The farmers offer valuable experimental learning opportunities to our community from family programming and u-pick opportunities to homesteading courses and workshops. Farmers currently operating on site include Feral Woman Farm, Frisky Girl Farm, Circle River Flowers and the Whitaker Family cattle. You can learn more about these farmers and their products here. In addition, we work with service providers for seasonal community family programs such as guided goat walks, and agricultural workshops for adults. Check out current offerings here

For more active recreation options, the Tollgate Farm Park’s gravel surface loop trail system with expansive views of the Cascade mountains and connectivity to the regional Snoqualmie Valley Trail is popular with both area residents and visitors. Please always keep pets leashed. Elk are known visitors to this park, you can enjoy wildlife from distance but please don't approach wildlife.

A weekly community 5K parkrun event is hosted on site every Saturday morning at 9:00am, starting June 1st. Parkrun is a free, volunteer led community event where you can walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate in a positive, welcoming and inclusive environment. Learn more about parkrun here.

A self-guided interpretive walk along the park’s one-mile-long exterior trail makes for a nice route to enjoy the scenery while learning about the site’s rich history. Park benches along the trail offer opportunities to appreciate the landscape and for having great conversations.

The fields are often used for open play and picnicking, and occasionally for special events. Cricket is a popular activity at the park this time of the year. On summer weekends and some weeknights youth cricket club teams play here. Cricket is quickly growing in popularity in the area, and an interesting one to watch, even if you haven’t played before!

The Farmhouse restoration is nearly complete and will be soon available for private rentals. The building has an open floor plan that includes a meeting room with flexible seating and a kitchen providing an intimate setting for small meetings, celebrations, classes and events. Learn more about this space here.

The Farmhouse restoration and agricultural infrastructure improvements have been several years in the making and funded through a capital bond measure, and grant programs such as the Washington State Heritage Capital Projects Grant and King County 4 Culture Saving Landmarks Grant.  The Tollgate Farmstead Project received the 2023 King County Executive's John D. Spellman Award for exemplary achievement in historic preservation, recognizing the District's efforts to revitalize the Tollgate Farm site for use by local agricultural producers and the community. This King County video celebrates the historic preservation of this special place.

Tollgate Farm Park has two parking areas, off North Bend Way with easy access to the playground and fields, and off Bendigo Boulevard near the barn and the farmhouse. Pedestrian and bicycle access is also available from Snoqualmie Valley Trail.

Enjoy your visit!
