Ways to Help Pocono Heritage Land Trust
I’m sure for many of you, this holiday season feels different, the fitting finish to a year full of surprises and challenges. Many of us have experienced loss, isolation, and uncertainty. Uprooted from our normal way of life, we may find ourselves searching for meaning, community, and comfort in new ways and new places.

Pocono Heritage Land Trust is in unique position to improve human and environmental health, by preserving our area's natural spaces and returning us to our roots. As the demand for outdoor recreation increases, and more people relocate to seek refuge in the Poconos, PHLT is experiencing a renewed urgency in our responsibility to protect our lands and natural resources, for the health of our planet, our community, and our future.

Today is Giving Tuesday, and although it is traditionally a day of financial giving, we want to share with you some of the many ways you can offer support to our mission at Pocono Heritage Land Trust. We know times are tough. We hope you will join us in creating a healthy and vibrant future, in a way that feels right for you.

Volunteer
Volunteers are essential to staying on top of trail maintenance and invasive species.
We have lots of fun, and learn new things!

In addition to stewardship, we always welcome help with office duties, writing, graphic design, carpentry, fundraising, education, events, photography, outreach, and so much more!

Leave Only Footprints
As the demand for outdoor recreation increases, we are delighted to see new visitors enjoying our public preserves! Unfortunately, with increased traffic often comes an increased footprint. PHLT preserves are pack in, pack out, so please bring a bag to collect your own trash, and any other litter you may find.
Thank you to all who have taken it upon yourselves to help clean up along the way! Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns about our preserves.
Get Creative
Fundraising events pretty much ceased this year, as health and safety became our top priority.

In the absence of PHLT events, two of our board members, Elaine Madere and Don Baylor, stepped up to the plate. By holding their own painting classes and art sales, Elaine and Don brought in over $1,000 in donations this year!

Do you have a talent to showcase, or a fundraising opportunity to share?

Spearhead a New Project
In the past two years, we have cleared and marked new trails, installed signs and built bridges. This summer, we began controlling invasive plant populations at several preserves. We’re currently creating trail maps and brochures to help guide your visits. It has been quite a journey, but this is only the beginning!
One friend of PHLT has been busy placing geocaches on our nature preserves! Click here for a list of the caches waiting to be discovered.

Do you have a project idea you'd like to share?

Sometimes the best ideas come from outside perspectives. If you have dreams for trails or projects, please contact us. We love to work together on new ideas!
Become a Steward
Do you live near one of our nature preserves, or are you a frequent visitor?

Consider becoming a steward, and you can help us by picking up litter, keeping trails clear, and monitoring at a nature preserve near you.
Please contact us to find out more!
Social media is one of the few ways we can stay connected these days!
Help boost awareness about PHLT's work, mission, and offerings, by sharing our content and inviting your friends to follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
