Month of Winning & Giving Underway

May 1 is a special day for our Sisters, friends, neighbors and benefactors. Our 2024 Spring Raffle begins this evening, awarding $12,500 in cash prizes throughout the month of May. Based on the evening Pick 4 drawing of the Pennsylvania Lottery, tonight's lucky ticketholder will win $750. Then, each day this month, additional winners will receive $250 to $1,000, depending on the day's designated prize. You can track the nightly winners on our website by clicking here.

The funds raised through our Spring Raffle — as well as more than $12,000 in donations from those who did not request tickets but wanted to help in other ways — allow us to continue our important ministry work in the areas where we serve. This includes efforts like our Pittsburgh-area food drive, which kicks off today, too! Through May 15, we are collecting non-perishable food, toiletries, grocery gift cards and monetary donations to benefit our neighbors in need. Details about both are below.

Spring Raffle FAQs

HOW WILL I KNOW IF I WON? — We track the winning numbers daily based on the evening Pick 4 drawing of the Pennsylvania Lottery. We also contact each winner to let them know the good news and to confirm their mailing address.

IF I WIN, HOW DO I GET MY MONEY? —Checks are sent out throughout the month to our daily winners. Please allow 10 days for your check to arrive.

I DON'T LIVE IN PENNSYLVANIA. HOW DO I FIND OUT WHO WON? — While many of our patrons do live in Pennsylvania, the raffle is supported by friends and benefactors from as far away as Hawaii! Therefore, we post our daily winners on our website (last names are kept confidential). You can track the action here.

Food Drive FAQs

WHERE AND WHEN CAN I DROP OFF FOOD? — Our 2024 Pittsburgh-area food drive runs until Wednesday, May 15. Donations may be dropped off in two locations:

8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily at Mt. Assisi Place (formerly Mount Assisi Convent) — GPS address is 1515 Quaill Avenue, Pittsburgh PA 15212

9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays at our Provincial Office — 4900 Perry Highway, Suite 201, Pittsburgh PA 15229

WHAT IS MOST NEEDED? — Please click here to view a printable list of most-needed items.

CAN I DONATE FOOD THAT IS PAST ITS “BEST BY” DATE? — It is important that we treat our neighbors in need with dignity. Therefore, we ask that expired items not be donated.

CAN I DONATE USED HOUSEHOLD ITEMS? — No, not through our collection. New, unopened household products are appreciated, but used goods should be donated elsewhere.

I DON'T LIVE NEARBY. HOW CAN I HELP? —

Monetary donations and gift cards can be mailed until May 17. Checks should be payable to School Sisters of St. Francis.

Where are donations going? — Our Pittsburgh-area food drive benefits Light of Life Rescue Mission’s Food Pantry on the North Side. Our

Sisters have served this area since 1913, so it is only fitting to remain connected to our roots.
