Please be sure to read today's Westfield Weekly and follow us on social media (Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter/X) -- great ways to stay updated and help us share and spread the good news about Westfield.

It's a busy day for our Hornets! Middle School football kicks off their season with a home opener at 4:30 pm vs ACE. Please note today's JV football game has been cancelled. Middle School and varsity cross country will compete this afternoon at GMC in Milledgeville, and varsity softball travels to Wilcox County High. Varsity football has an off week, and our Booster Club Dove Shoot is this Saturday.

We are grateful for the opportunity to teach your children and ask that you keep the safety and protection of our school community in your daily prayers. #WeareWestfield

Annual Fund Campaign Volunteers Needed!

Nurturing Growth Through Play

We are excited to kick off our Annual Fund Campaign for the 2024-2025 school year! This year's contributions will be essential in revitalizing our Lower School playground, transforming it into a vibrant and engaging space for our students. Your generosity will help us replace the existing pea gravel with safer cushioned poured-in-place rubber surfacing, along with new play structures, interactive equipment, and sensory play areas that foster creativity and social interaction among our young learners.

To make this campaign a success, we need one parent ambassador from each grade to serve as a communication liaison. As an ambassador, you will help share important updates and rally support from fellow parents. All communication and a guide will be provided to you to ensure you have the resources you need to be effective in your role.

Volunteers are needed also for our Silent Auction Committee to support the renovation of our Lower School playground! The proceeds from the Westfield 55th Anniversary Tasting Event and Silent Auction, taking place on February 22, 2025, will directly benefit this important project that will impact our children for years to come.

We need enthusiastic volunteers to join the committee now, as we begin the planning process to ensure the success of this event. Being part of the committee will involve attending a few meetings and working together to secure auction items, plan event details, and create a memorable experience for our community. Your time and dedication will make a significant difference not only in supporting a project that will bring joy to our students, but also in celebrating this milestone in Westfield’s history. We look forward to working together to make this event a success!

Join Westfield's LEGO TEAM

for students in grades 4 - 8

FIRST LEGO League Challenge is designed for students in grades 4-8 to participate in a friendly competition of research, problem-solving, coding, and engineering. Students will build and program a LEGO robot that will navigate a large game board with 15 missions to accomplish. No prior experience is needed!

Over the next several weeks, Mr. Jarrod Lewis, Middle and Upper School science teacher, will teach the team how to program their robot to accomplish various tasks. The team will brainstorm ways for their robot to activate the various components across the game board, allowing them to accomplish each mission. Ultimately, the team will program, practice, and re-program until they can accomplish as many of the 15 missions as possible in 2 minutes and 30 seconds. This year’s theme is Submerged - check out the informational video below!

The official tournament season starts in November, and team scores will determine which teams are invited to compete at higher levels (local, regional, state, national).

Meetings are planned tentatively for Wednesdays and Fridays after school (3:00-4:30). If you and your student can commit to this schedule, please click on the button below to register with the FIRST league and agree to their terms and consent form.

The Upper School Chorus was visited by lifelong musician and former pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Father Fred. Sharing from the Gospel of Mark, Fr. Fred told of Jesus’ healing the deaf man and prayed that God’s word would also touch our ears to receive His Word and our mouths to sing His praise. #westfieldmusic #educationofmindandheart

Sixth grade Christian Ethics students spoke to first graders in Mrs. Ashley McConnell’s class about having integrity and dealing with peer pressure. We love seeing our older students mentoring to younger students…blessings of a Pre-K - 12 campus! #educationofmindandheart

Middle School had their first prayer club meeting. Thank you to the prayer club leadership team for doing a great job! The students are showing hearts to represent that Jesus is love. #educationofmindandheart

Thank you to Alex Myatt '16, youth director and pastoral intern at Perry Presbyterian Church, for speaking to our Middle and Upper School students for this week's assembly. Alex shared verses from Psalm 96, encouraging students to live their lives in ways that bring honor and glory to God through faith and worship, and their words, deeds, actions, and work. We are grateful to see God working in our students and our alumni, changing lives and calling them into ministry! #educationofmindandheart #WednesdayWisdom

Thank you to Tom Mobley for speaking at our Fellowship of Christian Athletes meeting. His message to our students: Jesus is the only way! #educationofmindandheart

Thank you to our Praise Band for leading us in worship for our Middle and Upper School assembly program this morning! #educationofmindandheart
