SafTCart Prepares for Summer

SafTCart prepares for summer the same way every year. Large fans circulate fresh air inside while personal fans at every fabrication station help prevent overheating and heat strokes. Additionally, fresh ice is prepared every day and cooled water fountains provide much needed relief.

The heat is not the only thing on the SafTCart family's mind each year. Twice a year the factory halts production for vacation, and the 4th of July vacation period is approaching. SafTcart uses this off time to procure large upgrades and restructuring during down time. Next month we will examine what is planned this year.

Employee Spotlight:

Garrisha Williams

Garrisha Williams, 34, is a welder from Leland, MS. Born and raised in Leland, Garrisha has lived all over, performing tasks of all fits. Single and with no children, she does have one chihuahua and one niece and two nephews.

Garrisha got her start with a two year degree at the tech college in Ridgeland, MS. She is certified in tig, mig, stainless and flux welding. After graduation she moved to Vicksburg, MS. where her duties involved tig welding on the fabrication of restaurant equipment. She then taught as a welding instructor at Unified Brand and later at MS Delta Cap Center where she was their first female welding instructor. She states, "I love teaching welding [...] it is one of my favorite hobbies." Garrisha soon found herself moving to Gulfport, MS., on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, where she worked on constructing ships at Ingalls Shipyard. She later moved back home to Leland for personal reasons.

Garrisha wished to continue welding but Leland did not offer many opportunities. That was when her mother informed her of SafTCart. She called ahead then arrived April 8th for an interview where she was given a welding test and hired on the spot. Currently, Garrisha works on the pallet line but she has also been tasked with making cradle bottoms and cages.Garrisha says she takes pride in her work and showing off her skill, stating, "what keeps me going is knowing I am working against a lot of men and I can do the job along with them." She stated that she sees every day as a new learning experience and she "is excited to get up every day and help build great products for the customers."

In her free time Garrisha likes to spend time with her family, traveling, fishing, and going to church. She also enjoys being able to dress up out of her work clothes and boots. She also has her own welding machine where she loves to tutor new welders. She also bar tends on the side and her favorite drink is a rum punch. We are happy to have Garrisha join the SafTCart family.
