Lifesaving at Nevada Humane Society is a full time job, as some animals require special surgeries, teamwork and long-term care. Tim, a five month old gray and white kitten, is one of these animals and he is asking for your help in covering the cost of his care.
Tim's adventure began in Las Vegas, as he and five other siblings wound up at The Animal Foundation after they were found on the streets. Within a short time, thanks to a lifesaving partnership between The Animal Foundation and Nevada Humane Society, they were transferred to Reno. A staff member from Nevada Humane Society drove Tim, his siblings, and 10 other cats and kittens from Las Vegas to Reno to help them find loving homes while freeing up much needed space in the southern Nevada shelter. Tim was only about 4 weeks old at that time.
During a routine veterinary exam at Nevada Humane Society's clinic a heart murmur was detected. Tim then made a road trip to Loomis, California to see a cardiologist for further examinations. He was diagnosed with a
serious congenital heart birth defect-but luckily, something that surgery could correct.
Early in September, Tim underwent an extensive, lifesaving surgery at Sierra Veterinary Specialists. His recovery is currently going well and he is expected to live a long, healthy, normal life. His adventure is not over yet, but he is on the final stretch.
"Tim is beyond adorable. He's cute, social and affectionate - he loves everyone that he meets. I was lucky enough to drive him (and everyone else) from Las Vegas to Reno, so Tim shares a special place in my heart. I traveled with him to the cardiologist, and I'm following his journey with Sierra Veterinary Specialists. The team of people working on Tim are more than amazing - once again, we can see that lifesaving takes a village and that together, we are making a big difference," said
Kimberly Wade, Senior Manager of Communications and Events for Nevada Humane Society.
It wasn't even a question to save Tim's life, but Nevada Humane Society is asking for monetary support to help cover his cost of care. Tim's lifesaving adventure is putting a tremendous strain on shelter resources. If you can help, please make a donation to Nevada Humane Society's Emily's Fund for Injured Pets. Contributions are tax-deductible and can be sent to 2825 Longley Lane, Reno, NV 89502 or credit card donations may be called into 775-856-2000, ext. 324. You can also follow Tim's adventure on Nevada Humane Society's Facebook Page.
