The Tiger's Roar!

Tildenville Elementary School Community Brief Friday, April 12, 2024

Dear Mark,

As has been the case over the past three quarters, the pace of this fourth quarter is moving very quickly so please look over the calendar dates listed below for those that may apply to your child. Additionally, parents of our 5th grade students may want to mark down the morning of Saturday, April 27th as that is the last OCPS Parent Academy conference for the year which closes with the theme of "Transitioning to Middle School, High School, and Adulting." If you have never been to one, the OCPS Parent Academies are extremely well done and this topic is well timed for 5th grade before year-end.

April Parent Academies:

Several of our Tigers posed for this picture during our Moonlight Ball held this past Saturday, April 6th. Please read about this Tiger success story below in our regular PTA segment!

Tonight the 2024 Family Survey will close. I have written in this space before about how much we depend upon our Tildenville parents to take a few minutes for this survey 1X per year. This is our #1 vehicle for school improvement planning and with one day to go, we still need a number of our families to take the survey to make the overall findings meaningful.

Please, if you have student at Tildenville, would you share your views regarding our school on the survey today? Kindly keep in mind that the differences between our Family Survey and the other surveys you constantly receive from businesses through your emails plus on your phone are: 1) we act on the suggestions made by parents and include those in our school improvement plan; and 2) we discuss the progress we are making all along during our monthly SAC/PTSA meetings.

**** Last Day for the 2024 Family Survey ****

As always, thank you for reading about some of our latest Tiger happenings and other events. Enjoy your weekend!

Garden Update

The garden is in full bloom! Our Tigers have so many vegetables and some fruits that are growing in the garden!

We are looking for some landscapers willing to donate their time and skills to lay down 200 pavers to help make our garden even better! If you can help please contact the school. Thank you!

Thank you to OCPS Sustainability for coming out to Tildenville Elementary! The team worked with both parents, students and staff to teach about composting in the garden. We look forward to hosting this event again next year!

School Enrichments

Tildenville has some new signage! We have a new globe on the front of the school. We have 18 visitor parking spots that are all also marked. Please use these spots if you need to bring your Tiger in or out of the school

The visitor parking spots are along the sidewalk for you to use. We also have the times that you will need to make a right turn when exiting the parking lot. This will make the car rider arrival and dismissal move faster as well as make it safer for all of the cars passing each other on the narrow road.

Moonlight Ball - Tigers' Ball 2024 (April 6)

We want to take this opportunity to send a huge shout out to the people who made it possible.

We had an amazing Events Committee, that worked diligently and hard, hand by hand with one goal:

Ms. Katy Barnes

Ms. Cassie Calero

Ms. Sarahí Gonzalez

Ms. Lina Logan

Ms. Camari López

Ms. Nichole Tate

Mr. Juan Uribe

Ms. Erika Dziouksz

This committee was filled with magical ideas and visions of what we wanted to be, and the event starts way too many hours before people get there, and ends hours (even days) after people go home.

All these wouldn't have been possible without the help of these AMAZING people:

Mr. Ruben Vallina (our own Mr. Vallina's dad)

We are in awe at your willingness to bring any crazy idea we threw at you, to reality. Your unflagging disposition, combined with your kindness and sense of humor, made the long set up hours enjoyable and a joyful circumstance to remember. We all agree that nothing would have looked like it did without you.

Mr. Chris Vallina

Even though we know that you will be there anytime someone asks for help, we are ever so grateful at the hours of work you put into this, and at your constant disposition to do anything that needs to get done. You are a blessing to our school and your kindness towards everyone doesn't go unnoticed.

The Angaritas

You were god sent on Friday, coming with a bunch of resources that we didn't realize we needed. You are wonderful.

The Sheffers

Words are not enough to say thank you for ALWAYS being there. Ms Sheffer, you outdid yourself assembling countless panels!

Ms. Ellie Newbeck

Thank you for your willingness to help in any way that is needed, always with a wonderful disposition.

Ms. Guillermina Walker

We know that we count on you at every single event, and you always bring your kindness and good disposition with you. You are a blessing to our school.

Ms. Catherine Terrell

Another Tildenville blessing and treasure. After long volunteer hours you stayed moving tables, and even loading your car to the top.

Mr. Logan Sharpe

Wonderful pictures were taken throughout the entire event by this wonderful and kind human being. You can thank him any time you come into the front office, where he'll be greeting you always with a smile.

Without volunteers at the event, nothing gets done:

Our very own: Ms. Hager, Ms Vincitore, Ms Hall, Ms García Toledo, Ms. Terrell,

Mr Vallina, Ms Walker, Ms Aybar.

Families: Ms. Sarah Peltier, Ms. Norma Bueno, Ms. Isabella Sheffer, Ms Gianna Senges, Ms Sofía López, Mr Ruben J. Vallina

Thank you Ms. Alvarez and Dr. Clemente for being there, for giving us a green flag to all our crazy ideas, and for supporting us every step of the day.

Last but not least, a huge thanks to Mr. Matthew Turner and Ms. Boston (West Orange High Principal), who patiently allowed us to take measurements a hundred times and made everything at their school run smoothly.

We enjoyed watching our Tigers dance and play, and being able to get together in such a magical environment.

Thank you so much to each and every one that came!
