Recap of this Months NYC Bus Trip
On May 21st, Tikvah members went to Crown Heights in Brooklyn, New York. Rabbi Ephraim Levin led the trip and gave commentary about the area, as well as information about the places we were going to visit. Crown Heights is an Orthodox Jewish section of Brooklyn where our Tikvah members met with a Sofer/Scribe to see how Torah's, Tefillin, and Mezuzahs are made.

Next, we walked to a Mikvah, a Jewish ritual bath. The one we visited was for women only. Our guides taught us about the customs and laws of the Mikvah.

We then went to Kingston Street to shop. Several members bought baked goods, souvenirs, Judaica, and candy to bring back home.

This was followed by lunch at a kosher restaurant, Mendy's. Rabbi Ephraim Levin took several members into what is known as 770. This is the world headquarters for Chabad Lubavitch. We had a relaxing trip home and watched a movie about delis. Rabbi Levin wrapped Tefillin for the men who wanted to take part in the ritual on the bus on the way back home. Everyone had a great time!
