New Horizons Opens Living Room


New Horizons Community Mental Health Center, Inc. has launched a “Living Room” program to serve the mental health needs of people in Miami-Dade County. This new model is the first of its kind in South Florida.

New Hope Opens Drop-in Centers


The New Hope Staff and Board are proud to announce their Recovery Drop-in Center in Homestead and the Unity Recovery Center in South Miami are now open for services. Both centers offer mental health and substance use peer services, resource linkage, and access to recovery groups. The Recovery Drop-in Center provides a low barrier, safe space for individuals to spend the day (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) participating in activities, groups, and socialization to enhance their recovery. ALF Rebuild


The Guidance/Care Center broke ground on the long-anticipated rebuild project at The Heron, the only state-licensed Assisted Living Facility (ALF) with a Limited Mental Health License in Monroe County. This rebuild will significantly enhance the living conditions and services for adults with chronic and persistent mental illness in the Florida Keys, marking a pivotal moment in the community’s commitment to mental health care.

Healthy Start CEO Honored



Jeannette "Jinny" Torres, Chief Executive Officer at the Healthy Start Coalition of Miami-Dade, has been named the recipient of the Infant Welfare Advocate Award for Miami Diaper Bank’s Nurturing Futures. This award honors the dedication and outstanding contribution of individuals who have profoundly impacted South Florida’s infants and families. Jinny continues to give voice to pregnant mothers, infants, fathers and families in Miami-Dade County and advocate for policy changes.
