One of the best parts
about living in southeastern North Carolina is welcoming
work-weary, traffic-weary and weather-weary people to our
lifestyle. After years of commuting from New Jersey to New York
City, one of the best things for me was moving from jacket and tie
to a pair of khakis and a golf shirt. Every day. Even to
work.
A fascinating new
report has just been released on the baby boom generation that is
preparing to leave the work-weary world. It was commissioned by the
American Housing Conference. There are some very interesting
numbers to report that affect the housing market in a place like
ours where there is great fishing, amazing golf, long stretches of
open beach and very little traffic.
The report indicates
that every eight seconds, one of the 78 million baby boomers turns
60. Nearly half (49 %) intend to have a smaller home and 38% want
to live in a better climate. The majority (66%) want one floor
living.
What's even more
interesting is that six in 10 expect to retire within 5-10
years.
With those statistics
in mind, here's the best part. Brunswick County still has some of
the best pricing for land and homes on the entire Atlantic Coast.
Almost anything is possible, whether it's on the beach, near the
beach, in one of our great golf communities or peaceful historic
villages.
We've got the
climate, a wide variety of homes (or land so you can design your
own) and prices that are hard to
beat.
Bring your weary
selves for a visit. We'll show you the possibilities. Trust me,
that retirement timeline just might get a bit shorter.
