Message from our U18 Head Coach

Mark Chase

Head Coach U18 AAA Thompson Blazers

Dear Players & Parents,

It is with great excitement and enthusiasm that we – the Thompson Blazers staff – welcome you to our annual U18/U17 AAA Spring ID Camp! With the 2024/25 BCEHL season only a few months away, there’s a lot to be excited about. The Thompson Blazers program endeavours to build on the overall success of its teams in 2023/24 – a season in which both U17 and U15 earned silver medals in their respective leagues. The successful finish by these two teams marks a milestone in Thompson Blazers history. The program’s success in 2023/24 is a result of its players’ skill and character – their positive and relentless attitude, preparation, coachability, dedication, and teamwork fueled our ‘blaze’.

Throughout our ID camp, U18/U17 evaluators will be looking for players who demonstrate great work ethic, athleticism, resilience, technical skill strengths (e.g., skating ability, creativity with the puck, shooting, etc.), tactical performance (e.g., positional play), hockey IQ, and a willingness to challenge opponents and themselves. We expect players to conduct themselves with a high-level of professionalism during the evaluation camp, and players are required to be prepared and punctual. Parents, it is our expectation and request that you respect the evaluation process – please do not contact evaluators or coaches regarding player performance or selection.

We look forward to seeing everyone this weekend at Valleyview Arena where we can all enjoy a fun and competitive ID camp. Take care!

Respectfully,

Mark Chase

Message from the General Manager

Geoff Fuoco

General Manager

Dear Players and Parents,

On behalf of Thompson Blazers, I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to all of our dedicated hockey players and their supportive parents as we embark on an exciting new season filled with passion, dedication, and teamwork.

As we kick off this season, we are thrilled to see the return of familiar faces and equally excited to welcome new members to our hockey family.

Our coaching staff has been diligently preparing for the season ahead, and we are confident that their expertise, guidance, and unwavering support will help our players grow both individually and as a team. We encourage all players to approach each practice and game with determination, sportsmanship, and a willingness to learn and improve.

To the parents, we recognize and appreciate the role you play in supporting your child's passion for hockey. Your encouragement, involvement, and enthusiasm are invaluable, and we look forward to working together to create a positive and nurturing environment for our players.

We are confident that this season will be filled with growth, camaraderie, and moments of triumph, and we are excited to witness the progress and achievements of each and every player.

Thank you for entrusting us with the privilege of guiding your child through this hockey season. We are honored to have you as part of our hockey community and look forward to a successful and rewarding season ahead.

We also wanted to use opportunity to share some important details with you. As you are aware, Ice time is a premium in many cities in the interior. Therefore, some practices and/or games may be held at arenas outside of Kamloops, These might include but are not limted Chase, Logan Lake and Merrit.

We are still working on finalizing the budget, but I would like to highlight some numbers for you so that you can budget accordingly.

Please note that the following fees are based of the 2023 budget and might be adjusted:

  • BC Hockey Fees: ~$10,425
  • Team fees (must be paid in full by Dec 31st): ~$6,200

BC Hockey fees are collected by BC Hockey whereas the team fees are collected by us.

Please email us at blazersgm@bcehl.net if you have any questions.

Warm regards,

Geoff Fuoco
