Advocacy Updates and Opportunities 

View the DNR Water Permits placed on Public Notice last Week

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has drafted a total maximum daily load (TMDL) report for five streams in the Grand River watershed located in Worth, Gentry, DeKalb, Clinton, Harrison, Daviess, Caldwell, Ray, Mercer, Grundy, Livingston, Carroll, Putnam, Sullivan, Linn, Nodaway, Andrew, and Chariton counties. The TMDL report is available for public review and comment. The Department will accept written comments on the document through August 14, 2023. The TMDL report can be viewed online at https://dnr.mo.gov/public-notices-comments.


Water Quality Standards Workgroup - August 17, 2023 at 10AM to Noon. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Water Protection Program will hold a Water Quality Standards (WQS) Workgroup meeting on August 17, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to discuss WQS for Cyanotoxins and Iron. Department staff will lead the discussion by reviewing applicable U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recommendations and the Department’s history with each topic. This meeting will be held at the Lewis and Clark State Office Building, LaCharrette/Nightingale conference rooms, 1101 Riverside Drive, Jefferson City, MO, with a Webex option being offered. Mississippi River Commission public hearings - August 17th at the St. Louis Riverfront and August 18th at the Cape Girardeau Riverfront. 9 AM


Public Comment Period for draft wastewater operating permit for Denali-Jacksonville Storage Basin. Comment deadline 5 PM August 22, 2023. In-person public hearing scheduled for Monday, August 21, 2023 from 5:30 to 8 PM at the Missouri Department of Natural Resources Northeast Regional Office, 1709 Prospect Drive, Macon, MO.


Missouri River Recovery Implementation Committee to hold summer plenary session in Kansas City, Missouri, August 22-24.


Niangua River Tunnel Dam - Comment period open through August 31st for license surrender application for the Niangua Hydroelectric Project (Niangua Project) (FERC No. 2561). Learn more about this project.
