....Emmett J. Culligan started the business in 1936. In the 1930s Culligan’s main focus was to treat hard water in the home with portable exchange tanks. Over the years Culligan has expanded its product range to include problem water treatment as well as drinking water solutions for residential, commercial, and industrial applications.
....In 2004, Dan Sutter and Ty Baseggio purchased the Sterling dealership, and expanded their operation in 2007 when they purchased the Fort Morgan dealership. Sutter and Baseggio value their customers and pride themselves on the service their entire team provides. They have a very experienced team that strives to provide the best equipment available along with the best possible service daily: Dan Sutter (19 years), Ty Baseggio (18 years), Pam Koester (17 years), Ernie Naranjo (16 years), Russ Hershberger (15 years), Jon Medeles (13 years), Crystal Graff (9 years) and Matt Welsh (8 years).
....The EJ Culligan Award is the highest recognition given to the top performing Culligan dealerships in North America each year. These honored dealers achieve extraordinary results that significantly impact Culligan and have met multiple criteria in sales growth based on their geographic market.
...Culligan Water, located at 329 Oak St., is one of the more than 800 franchised dealerships in more than 90 countries. In 2015, the Sterling dealership was awarded the prestigious “Emmett J. Culligan” Award of Excellence for being in the top 15 dealerships in all North America. The dealership managed to accomplish the feat again in 2020.
Culligan specializes in water treatment for residential, commercial, and industrial applications.
...They offer for purchase or lease: water softeners, reverse osmosis systems, bottles coolers and bottled water coolers. They have specialized automatic filters for problem water such as arsenic, iron, sulfur and chlorine. Culligan also offers delivery services of bottled water and salt to their residential and commercial customers. Dan and Ty are both WQA-certified Water Quality Specialists and Installers. Ernie and Jon are both WQA-certified Installers.

Understanding A
POS System
Point of sale systems for retail stores are easy to grasp: they monitor every function of your location and interface with all data around your customers. The more data you have and interconnect, the more you can do with your employees and merchandise, and the better you can target your customers. That's how you grow retail sales.

Who Gets The $1 Million In Funding?
Colorado is getting nearly $1 billion in broadband funding from the federal government — money that offers unprecedented opportunities to connect 99% of the state and open economic development to areas that now have little chance at attracting it. But the Colorado Office of Information Technology and the state’s U.S. senators want
most or all the $826 million in Broadband, Equity, Access and Deployment (BEAD) money to go to rural providers, nonprofits and local governments — not traditional internet service providers. And while several larger providers offered full support to the program and its goals of near-universal access, they questioned whether those goals are achievable if the most experienced and well-staffed companies in the industry are not included in the process.
Broadband Funding
Employee Trip Reduction Idea Returns?
In both 2021 and 2022, public backlash quashed attempts by Colorado officials first to mandate that large employers reduce their workers’ single-occupancy-vehicle trips and then to offer incentives to companies to get employees’ cars off the road. Yet, the idea hasn’t died. If a Transportation Legislation Review Committee meeting is to be taken as an indication of the state of the proposal, though, it likely isn’t coming back anytime soon. Committee members heard a presentation on a voluntary employee-commuting program in the Denver area and a mandatory program in Washington but decided not to consider a potential bill on the topic — after members didn’t ask questions to the organizations sponsoring the described programs. That doesn’t mean an individual member of the TLRC — or a legislator who doesn’t sit on the committee combining the House and Senate transportation panels, for that matter — won’t run a bill mandating or incentivizing employers to work to get employees onto transit or bikes. But because legislators are limited to five bill titles (a cap against which interim committee bills don’t count) and because committee bills tend to carry more weight, the chances of a new battle arising over an employee trip-reduction program in 2024 at least appear to be reduced.

Issues Candidates Should Address
Across America today, business is working. In the first seven months of this year, private sector employers have added one million individuals to their payrolls. Existing businesses are booming, and the entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well. New business starts – the ones that are most likely to add new employees – have totaled 1,021,221 so far this year. At the current pace, 2023 is on track to be the second-best year on record for the formation of new employer businesses. Even with this success, America could be doing much, much better if our elected leaders focused more on putting wind at the backs of small, medium and large American businesses. With the presidential debates of the 2024 election season underway, here are a few of the issues candidates should be talking about over the coming months to strengthen America’s economy and global leadership:
Top Issues
What Is Impacting Small Business?
Suzanne P. Clark, president and chief executive officer of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and Jeanette Mulvey, Vice President and Editor-in-Chief, of Small Business Product Company will be keynote speakers at an upcoming update on Small Business. Focus will be on the biggest issues impacting small businesses today, and how the U.S. Chamber is working on behalf of small businesses.

When Is "Old Sterling's" Anniversary?
History Cafe, originally scheduled for Aug. 30, has been postponed due to carpet installation in the High Plains Education Center! The new date is WED., SEPT. 6 at 10:30 a.m. in the High Plains Education Center and will discuss “Old Sterling.” This topic will begin the year-long theme of “Crossroads” as the museum anticipates the Smithsonian exhibit with the same name arriving at the museum for a 6-week exhibition in August of 2024. “Old Sterling”, as it was called, was first established about 4 miles north of present day Sterling in 1874. The town was named, established postal service, began a school and even had a cemetery before the decision was made to move the whole town. What brought these rugged pioneers here and what brought them to the “crossroads” decision to move the town? Call the museum at 970-522-3895 to reserve your spot at History Café.
