Ceramics Workshop: Expressive Clay, Underglaze Mono-print Transfer with Nathan Goddard

Join us for a Sunday afternoon workshop led by Nathan Goddard, currently exhibiting in the Jessie Wilbur Gallery! He will teach methods utilizing monoprint transfers onto clay to create one-of-a-kind ceramic pieces.

Drawing inspiration from land and memory, students will learn how to create monoprint transfers using underglazes. 

Attendees will have a pre-thrown object ready to transfer imagery they create.

Students will be able to pick up their glazed and finished work 2 weeks after the workshop.

GIVE BIG FEST

Thursday, May 2 kicks off Give Big 2024 with Give Big Fest! From 5-8pm, over 70 area nonprofits will be gathered at Ferguson Farms for one big block party to celebrate the kickoff of Give Big Gallatin Valley 2024. Come check out the action, find the Emerson tent, and make a fun art piece to take home!

BOZEMAN DOC SERIES: MAYA AND THE WAVE

Filmmaker Stephanie Johnes’ thrilling documentary follows world-champion Brazilian surfer Maya Gabeira, as she battles monster waves and intense chauvinism in the field of competitive surfing on her quest to break a world record in the waters of Nazaré, Portugal. Johnes chronicles Maya’s pursuit over several years as she perseveres through setbacks, injuries, and a near-death experience to pursue her goal. At turns exhilarating, terrifying and inspiring, Maya and the Wave is a moving chronicle of one woman’s incredible journey.

It's that time of the year! The Emerson is turning 31 and we love celebrating with YOU! Come by on Friday, May 10th from 5-8pm for cake, peek into our art education classrooms, and see what's new around the building.

In Galleria Hall:

The Artist's Gallery will be open and welcoming shoppers!

Verge Theater will be open between their live evening events, New Works Fest at 5:00 and 6:30pm, and Death and Other Complications at 8:30pm. Tickets still available!

Upstairs Open Studios:

Jessie Moore Photography, studio 224 Offering a summer portrait special, and her exhibit, Finding, will be on display.

Are you looking for a studio space? Several studio spaces will be available in the Emerson starting in July. If you are interested, please follow the link below to complete your application and add your name to our wait list.

Leases are one-year terms and run July/June. Amenities vary by space. 

If you are already on the wait list, we will be reaching out to you shortly if the available spaces match your inquiry.
