Donut Miss This Sunday!

We know the content in our Forgiveness series has been heavy, and we've grappled with some intense and emotional topics. This week we are having a special Sunday we don't want you to miss and just want to share that our message this week will be lighter. And there will be donuts for all!

Announcements

Volunteer Options for Contemporary Service

There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer to be a part of the service in our 10 am Contemporary Worship Service. Aside from singing or playing an instrument, there are also opportunities to be the host (welcome, sharing announcements, and leading the call to connection) or the liturgist (leading the prayers of the people and the prayer that Jesus taught us).

If you’re interested in volunteering in any of these roles, please email Naki at nwhittaker@boisefumc.org

Food Pantry Needs

The food pantry is low on staple foods. Canned fruits, vegetables, cereal, soup, and vegetable oil are top priorities. You can drop off food at either campus or have food delivered to the Amity Campus.

We also need volunteers to help distribute food from 4:30 - 7:30 pm on Mondays. You can sign up to volunteer HERE.

NLI 2024 Registration is Open!

Are you wondering if NLI is for you as a member of Cathedral? It is! NLI isn't just for formal leadership, clergy, or lay ministry members. NLI is intended to bring hope, inspiration, and relevant, actionable lessons and ideas to anyone who wants to learn and make a difference in any setting. This year our speakers will talk about leveraging the momentum of hope in crisis, in encountering new territory, and making safer places for those who enter our church and home spaces. There will also be talks that directly address being a good leader in any setting. There is something for everyone here.

A Message from the Legacy Committee

Columbarium update in Cana Chapel

The Legacy Committee has continued to enhance the preservation of remains in the Columbarium in Cana Chapel. We have recently added a beautiful stand made by one of our members. It holds books with the obituaries of those who have been inturned. There are still niches available for others to reserve.

For more information visit cathedraloftherockies.org/columbarium/.

And Now...

"Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God."

- Philippians 1:3 (NLT)

This Sunday in worship is an important Sunday in the life of the church! Do-nut miss it. Yep--there will be donuts! We will have some great information to share with you about the church's future. Please try to be in worship this weekend.

This week the United Methodist Church will begin it’s global meeting called General Conference. This meeting will take place in Charlotte, NC from April 23rd - May 3rd. The United Methodist Church is structured similarly to the United States Government. We have a judicial branch, the Judicial Council, who help interpret our Book of Discipline (BOD). We have an executive branch in the Council of Bishops who offer guidance to the denomination. And we have a legislative branch, The General Conference, which is the top decision making body, made up of Laity and Clergy members, who work to perfect and amend the Book of Discipline. The BOD acts as the official voice of the United Methodist Church.

What could happen? This could be the General Conference where we remove the harmful language from our Book of Discipline that excludes our LGBTQIA families. We (the Western Jurisdiction) have embraced our LGBTQIA families and stood in tension with the Book of Discipline in a form of ecclesiastical disobedience. We hope and pray that the rest of the church will be freed to become an All Means All denomination.
