Dear Carnes Crossroads Residents,

The Lake Doctors stocked Carp on April 14 at ponds 3, 4, 5, 7, 8 and 9. Normally grass carp are considered an invasive species in US waters, however these are sterilized (triploid vs diploid) grass carp which are stocked to help control invasive vegetation that is growing in the ponds. This is why not all the ponds received Carp.

Why did we stock the Carp? It is part of the Lake Doctors integrated pest management business model where they utilize environmentally friendly methods to supplement chemical control of algae and invasive weeds. There are many species of invasive vegetation that requires strong chemicals to kill/control, these chemicals can kill the grass around the pond if the water level rises.

Are these Carp fishable? They are however they are protected. They are vegetarian fish and they need to be released back into the pond from which they were caught. The Carp are inspected and verified for sterility by DNR before they were stocked and their pond location recorded. An adult carp will grow to be about 40 lbs and 4 feet long, so that’s going to be a tempting target for an angler. Please focus on Catch and Release.

As a member of Carnes Crossroads, residents have agreed to abide by certain rules and regulations to maintain the aesthetic and functional standards of our community. One crucial aspect of this is the enforcement of these standards through violations. While it may seem harsh to issue violations for seemingly minor infractions, it is important to understand that doing so helps maintain the property values and the overall quality of life in the community.

We are increasing the amount of inspections that are being done in the community.

We want to guide residents on how we complete this process. We drive around the neighborhood so you may see us slowly driving around taking pictures. We use an app on our phone to take pictures and send notices. All notices are sent via email unless we do not have an email on file.

1. First a courtesy letter with a cure date to correct the violation is sent. 10 days to remedy.

2. If the violation is not corrected in the time period stated in the initial notice period a second notice is sent. 10 days to remedy.

3. Non remedied violations a third violation notice with 10 days to remedy. If it is not remedied after those 10 days a fine is imposed at the rate of $25.00 per day.

A special thank you to our Maintenance Technician Christopher Johnson. Chris has decided to move on to another opportunity. His last day will be May 3rd. We wish him the best.

DEVELOPER UPDATE

Hello Carnes Neighbors!

We are holding our marketing photo and video shoot at the community today and tomorrow.

I also wanted to provide an update on when our team will be capturing the park and pool scenes. The amenities will remain open as usual, but I wanted to provide you a time window so you are aware we will be filming during the times specified below.

Philips Park: 8:45am – 9:45am

Pool: 12:00pm – 2:45pm (Please note we will need to open all umbrellas for this period of time)
