We're preserving history: Squamish Chief newspaper archives goes digital!

Danielle Soto, the digitization assistant at the library, is working on a project to scan The Squamish Chief's newspaper archives.

She has already scanned over 7,000 pages, aiming to digitize newspapers from 2002 onwards. The goal is to preserve Squamish’s history and make it accessible to everyone online.

"It’s a way to ensure that future generations can easily explore and research our past. Especially because Squamish has grown so much over the last two decades, … it’s important to preserve and show that."

Stay tuned to see the newly digitized editions on our website this fall!

For more information about the project, check out this article in the Squamish Chief.

The library received a grant from the British Columbia Heritage Digitization Program to fund 50% of this project.

On Vacation? Pause your holds

Patrons are responsible for monitoring their position on their holds list. You can check this when you log into your account.

If you know you are going to be away, you can pause the hold until you return. By doing so, you will not lose your place in line.

If your hold is not paused and you are away when your name comes up, you will have to add your name to the bottom of the list again.

This applies to all library materials including Cultural Passes.
