Neighbors insure Curb Appeal

.....Working with City Engineer Robert Lee, neighbors along Meadowbrook negotiated a plan for a combination of landscaping and concrete strips as part of the reconstruction project currently underway. The original plan called for all concrete strips.

.....Led by Valerie Plested and Cecile Wardlaw, with advice from Felder Rushing, the group identified key strips for landscaping, agreeing to plant and maintain the strips. 

.....The strips identified for landscaping will be finished with rocks which will be removed later for the landscaping projects.

.....Landscaping will begin in 2023 for these areas:  the two 6-foot long strips on either side of the entrance to Oak Ridge; 3-feet beds on each end of the strip in from of 663 Meadowbrook (creating 'end caps'), the strip in from of 1065 Meadowbrook and the strips near Meadowbrook Mart/Prado Lofts.

Serve Day to target North State Street

.....Fondren Church's Serve Day will target the landscaping strips on North State Street for litter removal and maintenance. Working with FRF volunteers, the effort is planned for 8 a.m. until noon on Saturday, November 19.

Feed a Vet for Thanksgiving!

.....FRF is partnering with the Veterans Administration to collect canned goods and dry goods in support of the VA's "Feed A Vet" program.

.....Donation boxes can be found through November 13 at Corner Market, StudiOM, Fondren Fitness, The Pig and Pint, Interiors Market, CrossFit Fondren, St. Lukes UMC, Brown’s Fine Art & Framing, and Fondren Corner (near Roosters).

Concrete Studio at Duvall Decker

.....The inaugural Concrete Studio, sponsored by Duvall Decker, was a great success. Duvall Decker seeks to foster a space for the community to share ideas, stories, and experiences together. To achieve this, they have initiated a Concrete Studio as an event where people can gather to celebrate people, art and our thriving community. In short, they want to highlight cool people who do cool things. Watch for Concrete Studio 2 set to take place in Fall 2023.

Opera MS plans Jazz at Duling Hall

On November 14, Opera Mississippi presents the Chip Herrington Jazz 5 performing “Songs for my Father,” an exciting evening of jazz favorites at Duling Hall. 

.....Executive Director, Stacey Trenteseaux said, “If you like jazz and want to support artists from Mississippi, don’t miss this show.”

.....Performance begins at 7 p.m. (Happy hour at 6 p.m.)  Tickets are $35 each.

Support the USA IBC with Greenery

.....Friends of USA IBC volunteers Emily Sandoval and Allison Brown Simmons of Brown's Fine Arts & Framing are helping to raise funds in support of the 2023 International Ballet Competition with a holiday wreath and garland sale.

.....All greenery is handmade of premium evergreens from the Cascade Mountains in the Pacific Northwest.
