Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

.....Charlotte Smith Real Estate and Fondren Renaissance Foundation are honoring UMMC and Children's of Mississippi at this month's Fondren Live as they kick off Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

....."We are proud to have the state's only hospital for children right here in Fondren," said Melissa Hutchison, Fondren resident, former FRF Board member and realtor with Charlotte Smith Real Estate

.....At Children's of Mississippi, more than 150 pediatricians and pediatric specialists in more than 30 medical specialties work together to determine the best treatment for each child who visits Children's.

.....A press conference is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Thursday on the patio off Duling Avenue during Fondren Live.

.....Participating restaurants and retailers will feature ways support Children's and celebrate their work here in Fondren.

Arrest made, investigation continues

.....An arrest was made Sunday for the burglaries of two Fondren businesses on Mitchell Ave and North State Street last week. The suspect is being investigated for other crimes in and around Fondren.

.....Capital Police officers Sgt. John Hulsebosch, Officer James King and Investigator Darian Smith made the arrest with the assistance of Fondren Security Chief Cory Whitlock.

.....The suspect is known to reside under the bridge at Lakeland and I-55.

.....Video evidence was crucial to making the arrest, notes Chief Whitlock who encourages Fondren business to install cameras if they haven't already and register them with Fondren Security. Fondren Security will share with Capitol Police and JPD when necessary.

Fondren Night with the M-Braves

.....A limited number of free tickets are still available for Fondren Night at the Mississippi Braves on Sunday,  September 4 .

.....The game with the Tennessee Smokies starts at 6:05 p.m. with Fondren restauranteur Robert St. John throwing out the first pitch.

Demolition equals progress!

.....An estimated 60-day demolition of the old McRae's structure on Meadowbrook will pave the way to a new residential project, Prado Lofts.

New restaurant coming to Fondren

.....Renovations are underway for a new restaurant, Ramen Bar, to open on Duling Avenue by the end of the year.

Fondren BID sets Annual Meeting date

.....The Fondren Business Improvement District will holds its Annual Meeting on Wednesday, September 14 at The Capri Theater. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m.

.....Board Members will be elected at the meeting.  All property owners are encouraged to attend. The meeting is open to the public.
