United Way Wednesday
This Week's Featured UWCCMC Funded Program:
2-1-1 is a program of United Way, serving Clark, Champaign & Madison County. 2-1-1 is a free, non-emergent, community helpline that is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This service allows people to speak to a trained professional who can connect him or her to essential community services. These skilled workers listen to the person's needs, research all available service options, connect him or her with help, and follow-up as needed. They are specially trained to help with problem solving and crisis intervention.

In July 2000, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) reserved the 2-1-1 dialing code for community information and referral services. The FCC intended the 2-1-1 code as an easy-to-remember and universally recognizable number that would enable a critical connection between individuals and families in need and the appropriate community-based organizations and government agencies. Currently, active 2-1-1 systems cover all or part of 50 states.

2-1-1 provides callers with local information and referrals to social services for every day needs and in times of crisis. This program is also a resource for those would like to locate local non-profits in need of volunteers and donations.

United Way of Clark, Champaign & Madison Counties keeps the database constantly up to date, so to provide the most accurate contact information, program data and requirement information. Community members can dial 2-1-1 to reach the helpline or utilize the online database HERE .
