Help us Celebrate Pentecost Sunday on May 19th

Beloved of Trinity Church,

With our sisters and brothers in Christ everywhere, we will celebrate the birth of the

Church at Pentecost with the gift of God’s Spirit! We invite you to share in a festive

celebration on Sunday May 19th – wear something red, and stay for Breakfast after

worship. Bring a friend!

If you speak a language in addition to English, and are willing to speak a sentence in

that language - please let us know! We will assign a brief passage for as many

speakers as possible to say, one after another.

Last year we had Spanish, French, Italian and German … can we add a new language

this year? Reach out to Rev. Andrea at: awyatt@trinitynewtownct.org.

Invitation to Confirmation in the Episcopal Church

Dear Beloved of Trinity Church,

Is God calling you deeper into your Christian faith? Is the Spirit nudging you to explore the possibility of Confirmation - or Reception - into the Episcopal Church?

Bishop Laura Ahrens will visit Trinity Episcopal Church in Newtown on Sunday, September 15th for our 9:30 AM service, and we will have confirmations.

We invite teens (14+) and adults to commit to and prepare for Confirmation by our Bishop.

Our spiritual journeys are unique and are often full of surprising turns. So, depending on your church background, there are three ways to make a formal affiliation with the Episcopal Church: Confirmation, Reception or Re-Affirmation of Faith. (We have many parishioners who come to us from the Catholic Church, and they are ‘received’ into the Episcopal Church.)

Baptism is not just for babies! If you have not yet been Baptized - this, too, is a joy open to people of all ages. Baptism and Confirmation can happen in the same service.

Being ready comes at different times – and in widely varying ways - for each of us. Please reply to Rev. Andrea if you would like learn more about Confirmation. We invite you

to a process of inquiry and discernment. God is searching for you.

Thank You!

Thank you to the Trinity community for your very generous donation from the Palm Sunday Breakfast to our work campers for their trip to Biloxi, MS in July. We are so appreciative of your support of our high school students. As part of their preparation for Biloxi they volunteered locally on April 28 at Real Food CT at Sticks and Stones Farm. They planted seeds, dug holes for fence posts, prepared beds for blueberry bushes, and removed roofing for an outdoor refrigerator space.

With deep gratitude for your ongoing support,

The NEWS Board and students.

Trinity’s Mission and Outreach selected Jericho Partnership of Danbury as the recipient of its Special Easter Collection

Our parishioners generously donated

$1,416.80 to this organization

Jericho Partnership provides a variety of services to the less fortunate in Danbury

It serves:

  • Disadvantaged students who are at risk of dropping out of school
  • Children who need health care but don’t have medical insurance
  • Families who can’t afford an adequate supply of food
  • Students who don’t have enough to eat on weekends when schools aren’t providing meals

Thank you again, Trinity, for your generosity! Truly you loved your neighbor in this response as yourself.

On June 1, the Youth of Trinity along with Mission and Outreach will travel to New Haven to Chapel on the green to hand out meals.

After our service on 6/1, we will make sandwiches in the kitchen at Trinity, pack up cold meal bags and go to New Haven. The event includes an outdoor service with music and communion and handing out food bags.

We meet at 12:30 to carpool to the event

For more information, talk to Julie Dunn or Martha Dayton.

Please join us in this rewarding fellowship, either by making sandwiches or joining us in New Haven at:

Trinity on the Green, 230 Temple Street , New Haven, CT.

Saturday, May 11, brings a special webinar from 7:00-8:15 PM on "The Wonders & Perils of Spring Bird Migration."  The program will explore the journeys that migratory birds make to our region every spring. Woven into this narrative will be the story of some of the different perils that birds face during migration — and the simple steps we can take at our home and business to help them reach their summer nesting grounds safely. The presenters will also talk about new bird-friendly laws being passed in the Northeast to help protect nocturnal migrants. Click here to register for the Zoom link.

The Little Pantry is in desperate need of:

Peanut Butter and Jelly

Boxed Meals

Macaroni and Cheese

Coffee & Tea

Tomato Sauce

Pet Food

We do NOT need canned vegetables at this time, and we THANK YOU for the continuous donations.

“Wherever there is laughter ringing, someone smiling, someone dreaming; we can live together there; love will be our home.”

The offertory anthem this week, “Love Will Be Our Home”, will be sung by our Women and Children’s Choir. We’ve been having a wonderful time in our rehearsals, and I can’t wait to see this joyful group sing together on Sunday. I love the text of this song because it brings the message that love is what makes our house a home. It also makes our church a home when we come together with hope and love in our hearts to worship and serve. It doesn’t matter where we are, or what our circumstances are, home is simply where love is.

We’ll see you on Sunday in our beautiful sanctuary filled with love and music!

Jennifer
