Please Welcome Our Presiding Bishop-Elect

The Right Reverend Sean W. Rowe Elected to be the The Episcopal Church's 28th Presiding Bishop

From Episcopal News Service (edited): The Rt. Rev. Sean Rowe, bishop of Northwest Pennsylvania and bishop provisional of Western New York, was elected June 26 by the House of Bishops to serve as the 28th Presiding Bishop. Later in the afternoon, the House of Deputies confirmed his election at the 81st General Convention.

Presiding Bishop-Elect Rowe was elected on the first ballot and the deputies proceeded to confirm him with a nearly unanimous majority. After the confirmation vote was announced, all rose in applause.

Rowe was elected from a slate of five nominees. The other presiding bishop nominees were Nebraska Bishop J. Scott Barker, Central New York Bishop DeDe Duncan-Probe, Pennsylvania Bishop Daniel G.P. Gutiérrez, and Atlanta Bishop Robert Wright.

To win, Rowe needed at least 82 votes from the 158 bishops who cast handwritten ballots. He received 89 votes. Barker received 24, Wright received 19, Gutiérrez received 17, and Duncan-Probe received 9.

Presiding Bishop-Elect Rowe also is scheduled to preach at General Convention’s final Holy Eucharist on June 28. He will begin his nine-year term as the public face and voice of The Episcopal Church and its chief pastor on November 1, succeeding Presiding Bishop Michael Curry.

Summer Coffee Hour

For the summer please join us in the Glover room for coffee and cold drinks. Provided treats are on hiatus but anyone is welcome to bring treats to share. There is no sign up for this. Just bring and share. If there are extras take them home or we can put them in the freezer for the next week. Come as you are. All are welcome!

Confirmation Conversations!

We invite all those planning to be Confirmed or Received into the Episcopal Church to join in Confirmation Conversations this summer at Trinity Church. Rev. Andrea has collected a lovely list of both youth and adults, and there is still room for more to join.

Is God calling you to deepen your relationship with the Episcopal Church as a disciple of Christ? Please speak with Rev. Andrea with any questions.

We are announcing 6 opportunities for conversation this summer as we prepare for Bishop Laura Ahrens to visit Trinity Church on Sunday, September 15 th - when she will confirm and baptize both youth and adults.

Summer is full of travel and vacations, so we ask that you plan to attend 3 of these dates. In addition, you may also arrange a meeting with Rev. Andrea at the Church office if you wish. Readings, videos, and other ways of preparing for Confirmation or Reception will be announced when we gather.

New Process for Vouchers - Staffing Transition in Finance Office

We are delighted to announce that Lori Rohrbacher has returned to employment with

Trinity Church as Finance Manager! You may recall that Lori moved last summer to be

closer to family, and she returns to us now in a remote capacity.

Working closely with Kim Merrill, our Communications Director, and Noel Bellesheim,

our Treasurer, Lori will help us modernize our processes and procedures so that this

position, which is one day a week, can be done virtually.

As a first step, vouchers can now be submitted virtually. There is a new page on Trinity's website (Vouchers). Please use this online form as a way to submit vouchers. If you need help learning this new system, please contact Kim.

Looking for Assistant Treasurers

We are looking for helpers to assist with the weekly counting of the Sunday plate. This ministry takes about 15 minutes, and if we get enough volunteers, you would only need to come in once a month. Please reach out to Kim if you are interested in helping out!

Our book group on Marilynne Robinson's "Reading Genesis" picks up on July 7 in the Johnson Library after the 9:30 service. We'll cover the stories of Isaac and Jacob in chapters 21-36 of the Book of Genesis. The group will conclude on July 14 with the stories of Joseph (chapters 37-50).
