Landscape Master Plan Public Meeting

The City Commission convened for a Budget Workshop and Regular Meeting on Tuesday, July 23
During the Regular Meeting, the City Commission approved a tentative operating millage rate and established a tentative fire assessment rate.

During this week’s City Commission Regular Meeting, we honored Bloodhound K9 Macie, who served our community from April 2013 through January 2023. A proclamation was read to recognize Macie, following her passing on June 28, 2024.
Deputy Kelli Covet was teamed up with K9 Macie in April of 2013. According to Deputy Covet, once she met Macie, “It was love at first sight.” After a life of unwavering service, K9 Macie retired from BSO in January 2023.
Macie attended over 346 demonstrations and community events during her career, with 120 specifically in Cooper City. She responded to 1,118 calls for service and had 523 deployments. From 2016 through the end of her career, Macie had over 100 confirmed tracks, assists and finds. Macie was also the first BSO-certified therapy dog. Rest in peace, sweet Macie.

Precautionary Boil Water Orders Lifted Following Two Water Main Breaks
The Utilities Department repaired two water main breaks on Monday, July 22. One break occurred along SW 118 Terrace and SW 48 Court, affecting 20 homes.
The other break occurred within Cooper City Plaza located along Griffin Road, east of Palm Avenue. Following 48 hours of testing, water was found to be clear in both areas leading the respective precautionary boil water orders to be lifted.

Cooper City's Parks and Recreation Department is proud to offer Before and Aftercare Programs for elementary school students and Pioneer Middle School students throughout the school year. The program for elementary school students is held at the Community Center and consists of recreational activities and homework assistance. The middle school program, exclusively for Pioneer Middle Schools students, is held at Pioneer Middle School and consists of recreational activities, computer lab, and homework assistance.
Registration for the 2024 - 2025 school year currently in progress.

Broward County Animal Care invites you to the upcoming Summer Bash, a free adoption event with special guest Susan Kelleher, DVM, a renowned celebrity veterinarian and star of Dr.K’s Exotic Animal ER on Disney Plus.
The day will be filled with family-friendly games, facility tours, educational booths, food trucks, and of course the opportunity to meet and adopt adorable pets looking for their forever home.

National Night Out
Join the Broward Sheriff’s Office as we observe “National Night Out Against Crime,” an annual event designed to strengthen our neighborhoods through police and community partnerships. This is a perfect opportunity to get to know the BSO deputies who patrol your streets and unite with your neighbors in the fight against crime.
This event will include exciting law enforcement demonstrations and activities, school supply giveaways*, DJ, inflatables, face painters, balloon twisters, food trucks, and a special live performance from Orlando Mendez!

Our campers have been everywhere! Last week, Teen Camp spent an exciting day at Sea World - talk about an awesome field trip. As for this week, campers enjoyed a Summer Bash with bounce houses and water slides at Suellen H. Fardelmann Sports Complex and took in a ball game at Loan Depot Park where the Miami Marlins squared off with the Baltimore Orioles. | |

Cooper City Active Adults Program Recap | |
Chai Latte Music provided Ukulele lessons and a sing-a-long with a variety of instruments.
A few participants brought some other fun instruments to play and showcase like hand bells, a guitar, a Glockenspiel percussion instrument and even spoons!

The Cooper City Fitness Center is located at the Pool and Tennis Center. Explore your health insurance for membership benefits. An individual annual gym membership starts at only $85.60 for seniors (age 62+). An individual annual membership for Cooper City residents, age 14-61, is $139.10.

Home Watch Program
Did you know the Broward Sheriff's Office Cooper City District has a free Home Watch Program?
With this program, a deputy will check your home regularly while you are away. An exterior check of your home will be conducted to make sure there have been no unlawful entries and that no other obvious problems have occurred outside of your home. To sign up for this FREE service, please fill out the Home Watch form and visit the BSO Cooper City District Office (10580 Stirling Rd.) to complete registration.

My Safe Florida Home
The My Safe Florida Home Program offers eligible home owners the opportunity to make an application for a wind mitigation home inspection free of charge by the State.

Fingerprinting Services
The BSO Cooper City District is now providing complimentary fingerprinting services to Cooper City residents and business owners. Fingerprinting is available by appointment only on Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to noon and Thursdays from noon to 3 p.m.

What to Do If 911 Does Not Answer:
If a Cooper City resident calls 911 and receives no answer, there's no need to panic. You can call the BSO Cooper City station directly at 954-435-2000. It's worth noting that Cooper City's BSO station is the only BSO district to have a staffed lobby 24/7, 365 days a year.
