I am thrilled to be in Paris to attend the Olympic Games and experience, as a tourist, how the city of Paris is organizing for this worldwide event!
With Long Beach and the Third District hosting so many events at LA28, I am taking it all in with a tourist’s eye combined with the knowledge I have gained as a Councilmember. I am looking at public safety, transportation including the metro, bus lines, and mobility, waste management, signage, plastic recycling, entrance to events, and so much more.
Thanks to the City Manager's office and LA28, I will be attending workshops about tourism, economic support for small businesses, volunteer programming, waste and recycling, and I will be visiting Paris City Hall!
Over the next week, my family and I will be watching several events that will be in Long Beach including swimming, rowing, canoe-sprints, and water polo!
Long Beach has five athletes participating in the games including two Wilson High School graduates. Rachel Glenn, a Wilson High School graduate, is participating in Athletics (Track & Field). Max Irving, a Wilson High School graduate, along with Hannes Daube, Chase Dodd, and Ryder Dodd are all participating in Water Polo. Check out their bios at www.TeamUSA.com.
Last night, I attended Paris 2024 Opening Ceremonies! I was so moved to see all of the Athletes on the River Seine and feel the passion of visitors from around the world cheering for their country.
