Live Streaming Technical Difficulties
Unfortunately, we continued to have problems with the live-streaming video quality last Sunday. There was a substantial delay between the sound and the video footage as well as disruptions that resembled the aurora borealis (noted by Sue Galbraith). We sincerely apologize for the interruption in your worship experience.
There is some good news. The sound of our service recorded fine so; you CAN hear the beautiful music of Dr. Mark Lawlor and the Saint Mary's Choir as well as listen to Father Scott's wonderful homily. We replaced a switchboard this week and after two test-runs it appears that all is working well. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate these challenges.

A Prayer for our Community in Transition
Almighty God, you know the needs of your Church in every place: look graciously upon the people of Saint Mary’s and grant us the guidance of your Holy Spirit as we seek a new Rector for this parish. Guide the members of our Search Committee as they labor to be faithful in seeking your will. Inspire those who will discern with us, that each may be responsive to Your call. Give us wisdom and confidence in your timing, and in all things help us to seek the path you have set for us to follow. In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.

Flower Dedications
The Online Flower Guild signup form has been updated. Please click here for the online signup form. Flower arrangements can be donated for so many different reasons whether it is in loving memory of a deceased loved one, in celebration of a joyous event, a wedding, a baptism, a graduation, or in thanksgiving for something important in your life. We are very blessed to have a team of talented flower guild members who always work to create beautiful arrangements holding your intentions in their hearts. We will also have a paper signup available on the sunroom bulletin board as well. Please note that dates do need to be shared as we have a large community to honor and celebrate together.
Thank you!

Search Committee Corner
| |
|
Your Search Committee has already hinted at some of the conclusions of the CAT survey that so many of you completed. This coming Sunday, the 21st, we’ll let you know in more detail what your responses told us about your experiences of St. Mary’s and your hopes for our next rector. We’ll do so at a forum in Walden Hall following the 10 a.m. Eucharist. We’ll outline our parish’s stronger and weaker points, as perceived by survey-takers, and the type of parish we represent. We’ll also tell you about our next steps in identifying the individual with the spiritual and other qualities that the leadership role in our church demands. Until then, if you have questions or thoughts to share with us, please contact committee member Sue Jilson, via email at susan.jilson@gmail.com or phone at (508) 737-6890.

Important Church Campus Notices
DOOR ENTRY CODES HAVE BEEN CHANGED!
As a part of our safety and security best practices we have updated all of the combination locks on campus. If you are a head of a ministry group or have a specific need to gain access to the church off hours please reach out to our fabulous gatekeeper, Julie Remie for the new combination codes. We thank you for your understanding in helping us keep our campus secure and safe.
PLEASE SLOW DOWN
A friendly reminder that as you come and go from campus please drive slowly. We have a preschool on site, individuals with mobility issues and there is increased traffic with Angels' Treasures. Please be safe.
WE ARE A SMOKE FREE CAMPUS
Just as a friendly reminder; several years ago the Saint Mary's community agreed to make our campus a Smoke Free Environment. Therefore, there is no smoking allowed anywhere on the grounds, gardens, grounds, parking lot or buildings. Thank you for your cooperation.

Newcomer Notes

If so, you are warmly invited to enjoy appetizers, a glass of wine or other beverage and fellowship with a few Vestry members, parishioners and other newcomers on Sunday, June 4 at 4:30 pm at the Yarmouth Port home of Dave and Judy Knauer. All are welcome. Contact Judy at 203-249-2764 for further information.

Solar Power Capital Campaign Status
As of May 10th, we have received $49,775 in pledges from 21 generous donors. We want to take this opportunity to thank all of the pledgers and encourage others to make their contributions to this important project. In addition to your pledges, we plan to apply for credits that could be as much as 40% of the total cost. Since it may take 12 to 18 months to receive the credits, it is possible that donations and credits may exceed the cost of $71,500 . If we are fortunate enough for this to happen, any excess funds will be used toward paying off final renovation costs since the panels are just an extension of the initial project.

Celebrating With Our Lutheran Friends
We continue to build our fellowship with one another. Please know we are invited to participate in the following meetings at First Lutheran:
- Tuesdays - Meditation and Reiki Group meets at 12pm
-
Wednesday Nights - Sacred Journey (Via Sacre) Worship Service.
Via Sacre is an alternative form of worship held every Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM; it is filled with candlelight, time for meditation and prayer, Bible readings and sermon, and the sharing of Communion – and community. Each week may be a little different without any set liturgy, but there is plenty of music – both in the Taizé tradition and others with upbeat rhythms.

Outreach and Volunteer Opportunities

This is the last week to drop off socks!
Our friends at First Lutheran have apparently already gathered over 200 pairs of socks! If you can, please donate some new socks for men, women or children in our collection bin in the sunroom. The socks will be distributed through the Cape Cod Council of Churches, Youth Street Reach Program on Memorial Day weekend. Thank you for your generosity!

Garden Committee Update
You are warmly invited to join our merry band of gardeners this Saturday morning, May 20th for a garden work party at 9:00 AM. Lilo Kimball has kindly offered to lead the group this weekend. Any and ALL help is so appreciated. Thank you as always to our volunteers for continuing to work so hard in the gardens.
We are in need of wooden golf tees to help us mark off bare spots in the daffodil meadow. If you have lots of spare golf tees lying about please let Allison know.

Permaculture Educational Workshop
Saint Barnabas’s Episcopal Church and Resilient Roots of Cape Cod are offering members of parishes in the deanery an opportunity to learn more about permaculture and participate in an educational workday on Saturday, May 27, 2023 from 8:30am to 3:00pm. Participants will hear both the theory and practice the hands-on skills of permaculture planting. Lunch will be provided.
Anyone who would like to volunteer is asked to register at: StBOutreach@gmail.com or call Saint Barnabas’s at 508-548-3863. Volunteers on May 27 will help transform 2,500 sq ft of lawn on the campus of Saint Barnabas into a sustainable, fruit-bearing landscape. Dozens of native perennials will be planted in “guilds,” or groups that support each other and mimic the natural ecosystem. The permaculture garden centers on three ethical principles: Earth care, people care, and fair share. The permaculture garden at Saint Barnabas’s will provide food for wildlife and humans, and capture carbon through habitat restoration. The planting area will include walkways to encourage and facilitate public access through the permaculture garden. All are welcome to come learn and get some hands-on experience.

Help Us Help Others
St. Mary’s builds its outreach ministries around Matthew 25:36-40 where Jesus commands his followers saying:
I was hungry and you fed me,
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink,
I was homeless and you gave me a room,
I was shivering and you gave me clothes,
I was sick and you stopped to visit,
I was in prison and you came to me.
Please help us identify where God is calling us to serve as we try to respond to the needs of our brothers and sisters. If you know of a agency that is in-line with Saint Mary's Outreach philosophy mission please encourage them to apply for one of our Outreach Grants. Here is the Grant Application to share. Our next grant distribution will take place in July of 2023. Thank you for helping us spread the word to those in need. Saint Mary's Outreach Committee annually disburses overly $50,000 to international, national, and local partners in service. Your generosity and the incredible work of Angels' Treasures helps us support so many critical agencies and non-profits on the Cape. Thank you for your generous hearts.
