This year Saint Mary's Special Good Friday and Easter Offering is designated to support the Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza.  Click here to learn more about their critical work among the people in this war-torn area of the Middle East.

Last Fall, several weeks after the October 7 deadly attack on Israel by Hamas, Saint Mary's Outreach Committee allocated a gift in the amount of $5,000 to the American Friends of the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem, designated for Ahli Arab Hospital. We have attached to this email a copy of Archbishop Naoum's letter of thanks for our congregation's generosity.

As you read his heartfelt letter you will discover that, miraculously, Ahli Hospital has remained open throughout the months since the attack. The only hospital known to be currently operating in Northern Gaza, it has continued to provide critical relief to anyone who is in need of its services. As of late February, this 80-bed hospital was treating over 300 people per day.

Checks to support the Special Offering should be made payable to Saint Mary's Church, with "Ahli Hospital" in the memo field. All cash and non-pledge offerings collected during Holy Week and on Easter Day will be combined and a single contribution will be sent to the American Friends of the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem and designated to support the work of the Ahli Arab Hospital. We will continue to receive contributions for this special offering until April 15, 2024.

May God Bless your Holy Week journey and Easter joy!

A Prayer for our Community in Transition

Almighty God, you know the needs of your Church in every place: look graciously upon the people of Saint Mary’s and grant us the guidance of your Holy Spirit as we seek a new Rector for this parish. Guide the members of our Search Committee as they labor to be faithful in seeking your will. Inspire those who will discern with us, that each may be responsive to Your call. Give us wisdom and confidence in your timing, and in all things help us to seek the path you have set for us to follow. In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.

Helping Our Friends Ardie and Stephanie

Extending the Share A Meal Sign-up

Thank you to everyone who has been helping cook and deliver meals for Ardie and Stephanie while Ardie continues to recover from shoulder surgery. It has been really helpful for both of them. We would like to extend the campaign a bit longer and are hopeful for some new volunteers. The online sign-up makes it super easy and even includes suggested recipes. Thank you in advance for your support and a special thank you to Stella Bearse for organizing this.

The Garden Committee is seeking new members!

REALLY! We need more help to keep our beautiful gardens looking so lovely. We will take all levels of commitment even 20 minutes a week can help as the weather warms.

Our first garden work-day will be Saturday, April 13 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. We will be sprucing up the gardens to be sure everything looks sharp for the upcoming Daffodil Tea.

Our Next Gatherings:

  • Garden Work Day: April 13 at 9:00 AM in the gardens.

ALL are warmly welcome! Please consider joining us.

Featured Finds of the Week

RAIN RAIN GO AWAY!. The spring rain and gray skies have certainly been hard to take. Maybe it is time to embrace the dreary days and treat yourself to this sweet little collectible Hummel figurine of a little boy and girl sharing an umbrella?

Or maybe you need a beautiful new cookie jar? Rainy days are great for baking just enough cookies to fill this blue ceramic pot.

Please remember that we are still collecting daffodil tea related items for our upcoming daffodil tea weekend. Thank you!

Shop Hours: Wednesday through Saturday from 10 AM to 3 PM. Closed March 29 and 30 for Holy Week.

Six Estate Planning Pitfalls to Avoid:

  • Not having a contingency plan for beneficiaries in case someone dies unexpectedly or for a child or incase a child passes away.

  • Failing to account for unique personal property. For example, weapons, frequent flyer miles or stored reproductive assets.

  • Not planning for Dad’s new romance. 67% of widowers are in a new relationship within 26 months of a wife’s death. Look at wills and homestead rights.

  • Because of longevity and mobility you need to have medical directives and durable powers of attorney good in any state.

  • Failing to get appraisals of assets that are not readily marketable assets. Even if there is no estate tax problem, heirs may need to know the basis.

  • Make certain that the person in charge is STILL someone you trust.

If you are interested in learning more about how you can help St. Mary’s, please contact Linda Gadkowski at 508-292-5500
