Praise Those Fathers

Let us praise those fathers who have striven to balance the demands of work, marriage, and children with an honest awareness of both joy and sacrifice.

Let us praise those fathers who, lacking a good model for a father, have worked to become a worthy and virtuous father.

Let us praise those fathers who, by their own account, were not always there for their children, but who continue to offer those children, now grown, their love and support. As well, let us pray for those fathers who have been wounded by words and actions of their children.

Let us praise those fathers who, despite marital discord, have remained in their children's lives.

Let us praise those fathers whose children are adopted, and whose love and support has nurtured a thriving life.

Let us praise those fathers who, as stepfathers, freely choose the obligation of fatherhood and earned their step children's love and respect.

Let us praise those fathers who have lost a child to death, and continue to hold the child in their heart.

Let us praise those men who have no children, but cherish the next generation as if they were their own.

Let us praise those men who have "fathered" us in their role as mentors and guides.

Let us praise those men who are about to become fathers; may they openly delight in their children.

And let us praise those fathers who have died, but live on in our memory and whose love continues to nurture us.

- Prayer of Kirk Loadman adapted by Debra Mooney, PhD

Outreach and Volunteer Opportunities

Lemonade on The Lawn Season is Here

IF it is truly nasty out, we will set up inside Walden Hall. We will no longer provide coffee so please be sure to get your needed caffeine before you come to church.

Hosting the fellowship hour after our worship services is a great gift to our community. As host or hostess you and a companion provide store-bought or home-made finger food goodies for all to enjoy after the 10:00 AM service. There is also a Fellowship Hour scheduled after the 8:00 AM service on the first Sunday of each month.

It's all with the help of our wonderful Sexton, Lanny who assists with set-up and clean-up.

There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in the sunroom. Click here for more information.

Angels' Treasures thrift shop is open from 10 to 3 Wednesday - Saturday.

We are trying to spread the word about our shop into the community. If you haven't already

liked, FOLLOWED and SHARED our facebook page please take a minute to do so, Thank you so much for your support! Remember the proceeds from AT Thrift go to support our church's outreach.

Thank you!

When it rains it pours!

As you all know, our little thrift shop is entirely dependent on donations. Janis spends countless hours each week chasing down good inventory for the shop at estate sales, on facebook marketplace, on the side of the road, in your homes, basements and attics. When there is an abundance of GOOD stuff she has to jump to grab it and then she has to find a way to STORE it. It is a constant challenge to keep all the inventory tucked away neatly and rotated through the store as space allows.

  • More volunteers are needed to help with these collection runs and storage shuffles.
  • Do you have a truck and a strong back?
  • Are you gifted at de-cluttering and organizing?
  • Angels' Treasures Thrift Shop could use your help!

Cape Cod Community News

You Are Invited to the: Global Wind Day,

THIS Saturday, June 15

The Cape Cod Climate Action Network invites you to Global Wind Day on Saturday June 15, 2024 at Craigvile Beach from 11:00 Am to 1:00 PM. Cape Cod Climate Action Network has joined with the Sierra Club to support this effort for a simple reason: Cape Cod is the region facing the worst threats from rising seas and weather disasters caused by carbon pollution. Cape Cod is also, right now, the front line in solving the problem, by creating massive new supplies of renewable energy from offshore wind. Massachusetts’ State plan to combat carbon pollution is completely dependent on electricity from offshore wind. The plan calls for most buildings and most vehicles to run on electricity by 2050, and most of that electricity will come from offshore wind. The most important offshore wind projects that are close to reality are right off Cape Cod. For more information on Offshore Wind Power please click here.

WHEN:

Please join us, and bring friends to show your support, on June 15th.

Cape Coastal Conference - June 18

Collaborating for Solutions: Practical Sessions to Achieve Watershed Plans

Case studies that apply traditional and alternative methods to reduce nitrogen and improve water quality.

The Cape Coastal Conference is back! We are looking forward to welcoming decision-makers, managers, and researchers to learn about and discuss the best available science-based solutions to address coastal challenges that we face in the Cape and Islands region. This year’s conference will focus on action to restore water quality and highlight local case studies that apply and evaluate traditional and alternative methods to reduce nutrients in Cape Cod watersheds. Cooperation is key to managing watersheds spanning town boundaries, thus collaborating on solutions to achieve watershed goals is a major theme threaded throughout the day. Conference attendees and speakers will exchange knowledge around the challenges related to watershed planning through small-group facilitated discussions during a roundtable session. The Coastal Training Program will capture major themes and future action steps from these discussions to distribute to attendees after the conference.

You are invited to be a part of the conversation by joining us at the Emerald Resort & Conference Center on June 18, 2024 for a full day event!

Registration: There is no cost to attend but registration is required.

Please register by Thursday, June 13, 2024.
