There's a lot more information than you might think in our weekly news.

This Week of July 28

Then Jesus took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed them to those who were seated; so also the fish, as much as they wanted. When they were satisfied, he told his disciples, “Gather up the fragments left over, so that nothing may be lost.” So they gathered them up, and from the fragments of the five barley loaves, left by those who had eaten, they filled twelve baskets. When the people saw the sign that he had done, they began to say, “This is indeed the prophet who is to come into the world.”

John 6: 11-14

Outreach and Volunteer Opportunities

INREACH

Volunteer opportunities at Saint Mary’s:

Lemonade on The Lawn Season is Here

Lemonade on the Lawn is always weather dependent. IF it is truly nasty out, we will set up inside Walden Hall. We do not provide coffee in the summertime so please be sure to get your needed caffeine before you come to church.

Please consider signing up to host! There is a paper sign-up sheet in the sunroom on the bulletin board. Hosting the fellowship hour after our worship services is a great gift to our community. As host or hostess you and a companion provide store-bought or home-made finger food goodies for all to enjoy after the 10:00 AM service. There is also a Fellowship Hour scheduled after the 8:00 AM service on the first Sunday of each month.

It's all with the help of our wonderful Sexton, Lanny who assists with set-up and clean-up.

There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in the sunroom. Click here for more information.

Seeking a Map Maker/Cartographer/ Graphic Design Guru–

The Saint Mary's Garden Committee is looking to develop a map of the gardens that we can use in a brochures for visitors to our gardens. The gardens are visited by so many in the community for respite, peace and beauty. We would like to share with people the history and design concepts within the gardens. Do you know of anyone who might be skilled in cartography, landscape architecture or garden mapping? Maybe YOU have an artistic side yourself and might enjoy this challenge? Please reach out to Allison with any interest or leads.

Thank you!

Garden Update

Did you know Saint Mary's has a section of our garden called the Kitchen Garden? We plan to donate produce to the Faith Family Kitchen pantry for their use. So far we have been able to harvest a small amount of basil and some swiss chard but, we have potatoes and tomatoes on the way as well as squash.

The children from Our World United love checking on the produce. Our new blueberry bushes were absolutely covered in berries for first year bushes and those almost all went to feed the very happy local bird population. Next year we may net the bushes to ensure a harvest. Blueberry pancakes at our Thursday Morning Holy Eucharist, Books and Breakfast anyone? Sounds yummy!

We are still in need of volunteers to water specific sections of the garden. Please reach out to Allison if you are willing to spend about a half an hour a week either watering or dead-heading in our gardens. Allison will give you specific areas and instructions. This is easy and enjoyable duty but, it is also a huge time saver for our garden committee members who are already putting in a lot of time here. Thank you in advance for your help!

Parish Communications

Improving Our Social Media Presence

Allison is working to improve our social media and keep it a bit "fresher" and more engaging. We want everyone outside of Saint Mary's to see what a wonderful and vibrant community we are. In an effort to communicate all that we have to offer, We will be trying to post more frequently on our facebook and instagram pages about daily life at Saint Mary's. If you see Allison or Julie snapping pictures and videos around campus, please don't be alarmed. We would also love to have your contributions. Please share any of your own pictures or news with Allison so she can keep the feed fresh and lively.

Additionally, if you have not yet followed our Facebook or Instagram pages please do so. We have a public facebook page as well as, a private facebook group page we use for more internal communications. We use our instagram page to reach an even broader part of the community with hopefully compelling visuals of all that is happening at Saint Mary's. We want our social media to represent who we are and your contributions and feedback are most welcome. Thank you for your help.
