Please look carefully for a link at the bottom of our Weekly Email to ensure you see the entire message and all of the content. It should say something like this:

This Week of April 28

The Fifth Sunday of Easter

Abide in me as I abide in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me. I am the vine, you are the branches.

Parish Communications

Doing Purchasing On Behalf of Saint Mary's?

This is a friendly reminder to ensure we are all on the same page for cohesiveness and consistency and practicing sound financial policy.
New Businesses/New accounts: Any new business accounts need to start with the Treasurer. Setting up a business account comes with a liability to the church that the Treasurer and Vestry need to vet and approve.
Vendors: ALL vendors, no matter the size of the work, need to fill out a W9, so please provide accurate contact information so that we can follow up and obtain one if need be.
Handling Invoices, reimbursements and proposals:
  • We Pay: invoices where the Bill to/account holder is "Saint Mary's" (also subject to budgets and approvals).
  • We reimburse YOU:  If using a personal contractor/preferred store account (such as Trader Joes, Stop and Shop, Home Depot, Mid Cape Center, Shelpleys) that does NOT have Saint Mary's as the bill to/account holder. You should be technically paying for these and then seeking reimbursement. If not feasible, please check with the Treasurer before making the purchase.
  • Reimbursements: All reimbursements require an original receipt or invoice with details as well as proof of payment.
  • Tax Exempt: We have an St-2 and St-5 tax exempt status certificate. Whenever possible, please use these documents to make your individual purchases on behalf of Saint Mary's to avoid tax liability.
  • ALL proposals, estimates and contracts (no matter how small) need to have an original signature from all parties; One original needs to reside with the Parish Administrator in keeping with the diocesan records retention rules.
Use of Credit Card: The credit card needs to be signed out and back in by anyone using it - in the Parish Administrator's office. If you have the numbers on record (which you should not, so don't tell me!), please check with the Finance Coordinator or Treasurer before charging anything over $100 (or amount set by the Treasurer) to keep declines of purchases from happening.
Thank you all for your help in keeping our business practices sound. If you have any further questions, please contact Julie Remie, Parish Administrator.

What is estate planning?

Estate planning is the process of managing accumulated assets for the present and the future. It is a written expression of your intentions for the protection and preservation of your assets during your lifetime and their management and distribution upon your death. A will is the cornerstone of a sound plan but should include a durable power of attorney, a living will and a health care proxy. If you are interested in learning more about how you can help St. Mary’s Church, please contact Linda Gadkowski at lgadkows@capecod.net or 508-292-5500.

  • Weekly E-News deadline: Wednesday at noon.
  • In an effort to keep it brief we will only highlight happenings of the next 10 days in our E-News.
  • The deadline for submissions for our Monthly E-Newsletter will be the 25th of the prior month.
  • For your convenience, the Monthly Newsletter (printed out) will be available in the sunroom and the back of the church for those who would like a paper copy. If you know of someone who would enjoy receiving a paper copy in the regular mail please let Allison know.
