Library Budget Vote Information



The 2024 library budget vote will be held on Tuesday, April 2, during normal business hours at our Mastic Beach branch, 369 Neighborhood Rd. Here is a breakdown of relevant information pertaining to our budgetary considerations. We encourage everyone to review this document so you can make an informed decision on voting day. CHILDREN & PARENTS

Lego Club Afternoon @ Moriches

Monday, 4/1, 2:00 - 3:00 PM


Drop by, grab some bricks, and show off your Master Builder skills! Grades K-6. Drop in; no registration is required.

Babies Book Club @ Mastic Beach

Tuesday, 4/2, 10:00 - 10:30 AM


Share stories, sing songs, and enjoy free play and social time! Each child will go home with a free book to add to their own bookshelf. Babies birth-23 months with an adult.

Kidnastics @ Mastic Beach

Tuesday, 4/2, 11:00 - 11:45 AM


Join Kidnastics for a morning of musical warm-ups, obstacle courses, fun activities and more! 

Please wear comfortable clothing, sneakers and be ready to move! Ages 2-4 years old with an adult.

Spring Fling! @ Mastic Beach

Tuesday, 4/2, 4:00 - 7:00 PM


Come by for springtime drop-in crafts, activities, and fun for all!

Dandelion Delights @ Mastic Beach

Learn all about dandelions and create your own dandelion-inspired art with Ms. Hillary.  18 months - 5 years with an adult.

'It's Tragic' Local Author Kalvin Sidoo Meet + Greet @ Mastic Beach

Saturday, 4/6, 1:00 - 2:00 PM 

 

Come join us at the Mastic Beach Community Library Branch with local author Kalvin Sidoo, as he shares his book, "It's Tragic: A Keepsake Book Grief Healing Aide For All Ages". Families with children Grades 6 and under welcome. Kalvin will engage with children and families, discuss his book, and how he dealt with the loss of a parent. Signed books will be available for purchase. Families with children Grade 6 or younger. 

TEENS

Let’s Talk @ Mastic Beach

Wednesday, 4/3, 8:00 – 9:00 PM


This is a drop-in program.

A unique program where teens get to pick topics that are of concern to them that will be discussed among their peers in a judgement free and open atmosphere. They will have the opportunity to learn about topics that interest them and are important to teens in our current world. Snacks will be served for all attendees.

Teen Enrichment: Pizza & Poetry @ Moriches

Thursday, 4/4, 3:30 – 4:30 PM


Sign up to eat pizza and enjoy poetry with William Floyd H.S. superstar Nick Nappi, Ms. Currao (WFHS Special Education teacher) and other friends. This is an inclusive program for those that are 6th through 12th grade.

Perler Beads @ Mastic Beach

Thursday, 4/4, 6:00 – 7:00 PM


Make a fun perler bead craft of any design that you would like! This is a drop-in program; no registration is necessary.

Start your Day the Right Way Walking Club @ Wertheim National Wildlife Refuge

Tuesday, 4/2, 9:30 – 10:30 AM  



Improve your health and look for signs of spring with a walk at Wertheim. We will meet at the Visitor Center and leave promptly at 9:30 a.m. Please wear appropriate clothing and shoes for cold weather and rugged trails. Open to all. 

Crochet and Knit @ Moriches

Wednesday, April 3, 1:30 – 2:30 PM  


All skill levels are welcome! Crochet/Knit instructor Corrine can assist you with an existing project or help you get started on a new one.  No formal instruction will be given, but general knowledge will be shared.  Bring your own 4 ply yarn and appropriate crochet hooks or knitting needles.  Open to all. 

Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group @ Mastic Beach

Thursday, 4/4, 6:30 – 7:30 PM


The Family and Children’s Association is hosting a monthly support group for persons who care for someone with dementia or memory loss. The support group provides caregivers with emotional and social support, as well as educational materials to assist with caring for their loved ones. This group is for spouses, children, or any other family members or friends who are caring for someone with memory loss.  Open to all.
