Calling all members...
We're going bulk...and we're so excited!!
You may have noticed we are slowly moving to offer more greens in bulk - so that you can choose the amount you buy...and it gets us away from pesky plastic bags and rubber bands.
This week we've partnered with Nootka Rose - an excellent producer on Waldron Island - on bulk arugula, kale, and chard. Thank you, Steve and Linnea!
We'd also like for you to bring in your own bags - and your own containers....to help us cut down on plastic.
Please help us leave this island a little more beautiful than we found it....

New in the store - fresh turmeric root
- Natural anti-inflammatory compound
- Dramatically increases the antioxidant capacity of the body
- Linked to improved brain function and a lower risk of brain diseases
You can use fresh turmeric root to grate and make teas, and it pairs well with eggs, grain dishes, and soups.
Bottom line, it's just plain good for you.

Flake Salt - new in the bulk section.
|
|
A true taste of the Pacific Ocean merroir.
This flake sea salt is filtered and fire-evaporated off the coast of Northern California in small batches, assuring the highest quality finishing sea salt.
It has a delicate texture, not too dense and not too soft. It has a crisp brine flavor without an aftertaste, as there are no additives. Used as a finishing salt for its delicate flavor and aroma.
The Hawaiian black salt contains activated charcoal from the shells of coconuts. Use for finishing as well.

Hello from the SJI Food Co-op Board of Directors!
We've been working to improve the Co-op in accordance with requests from you, our members, and with the upcoming goal to embark on a Capital Campaign in the late winter and then incorporate as a legal standing Co-op in the Spring.
Here are a few things to check out:
All are welcome to the “Planning a Co-op Capital Campaign (PC3)” meeting at the Library on Sunday, Nov. 24th, at 4pm in the community meeting room.
Stop by to hear what’s going on...or how you can help. Remember - the Co-op wouldn't be here without you.
Or come to the next board meeting - which will take place on Monday, Nov. 25th, at 6:30pm. We meet at the back of the old Life Care Center. Note: the Co-op closes that night at 6pm so that staff can attend.
We’d love to have your input as part of the process. If you have any questions, just ask!
