We continue to daven to Hashem for the safety of Am Yisrael and Eretz Yisrael. May peace and tranquility be restored quickly.

Early Childhood Department

In honor of the fall season, the children in Ganon Bet had the opportunity to look at the outside of different types of pumpkins, gourds and squashes. We then painted beautiful observational art pieces! We can’t wait to see what the different fall foods look like on the inside next week!

This week, in Gan Bet, we were exploring Stav, סתו. We sang about the falling leaves.

We created a tree using recycled materials and used tissue paper for our Stav color leaves.

Lower School

Fourth graders had a hands-on, interactive opportunity to learn about the Lenape Native American tribe, who settled in what is now New Jersey. As an introduction to our upcoming unit of study, we visited Winakung, a Lenape Village, last week. We learned how they made clothing, tools, and baskets; how they hunted, fished and prepared food and how they took care of their children. We visited a longhouse and saw how they slept, how they cooked on open stoves, and how they stored food. We had a hands-on opportunity to grind corn, weave rope, play the same games Lenape children did and to play Native American drums. We are so excited to learn more about the Lenape tribe.

Chanukah is just around the corner! After celebrating Rosh Chodesh Kislev, 3C jumped right into learning about Chanukah with a new tool - a Padlet. Mr. Sanders introduced the app where students shared what they already know about Chanukah, questions that they have, and areas of interest to explore. They filled their boards with text, photos, and videos, and are ready for a creative month ahead!

SEL UPDATE

Second grade is learning to listen to our “inner coaches” instead of our "inner critics!” Our inner coach is our “personal cheerleader,” the part of our mind that focuses on the positive, what we could accomplish, and our inherent goodness. We each created projects that focus on our positive self talk and shared stories of how we utilize this tool in our real lives!

On Tuesday while the 8th grade was in Washington DC attending the rally for Israel, we held our own day of support back in school, as Yavneh held its own rally filled with song, speakers, letter writing campaigns.

Assemblywoman Lisa Swain joined our Yaneh rally. She addressed our 6th and 7th graders urging them to be proud Jews willing to stand up for Israel and to always give of themselves to their communities.

We are so incredibly proud of our 8th graders who travelled to Washington DC to stand up and show our love and support for Am Yisrael and Eretz Yisrael. Thank you to our many parent and faculty chaperones who helped to make this day possible for our students. Am Yisrael Chai.
