3 Tips for Composting at Temple Sinai 

  

Did you know that you can help reduce the greenhouse gas emissions that cause climate change by composting your leftover food and paper goods? Here are 3 easy rules to keep in mind when using the green compost bins at the temple.

  1. If it grows, it goes (in the bin).
  2. If in doubt, leave it out.
  3. Drain liquids before composting.

TSWRJ Annual Meeting

Come celebrate a year of being together in person! Enjoy a potluck dinner with "sister friends". Learn about “Käthe Kollwitz: Loss, Courage, and Purpose" from our own TSWRJ Board Member Dr. Liz Prelinger, chair of the Department of Art and Art History at Georgetown University. She curated an exhibition of Kollwitz's art at the National Gallery in 1992. This is TSWRJ’s annual meeting, where we will elect a slate of board members for the next year, install them into office, and vote on the budget.

Temple Sinai and Washington Hebrew proudly present a panel discussion program inspired by Franklin Foer’s recent piece in The Atlantic, “The Golden Age of American Jewish Is Ending”.


Mr. Foer will be one of the panelists in our discussion, joined by Pamela Nadell, the Patrick Clendenen Chair in Women’s and Gender History at American University, and Yolanda Savage-Narva, the vice president of Racial Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion for the Union for Reform Judaism. The panel will be moderated by David Gregory, current CNN political analyst and former moderator of NBC News’ Meet the Press.


This special program will take place at WHC. For security reasons, advanced registration is required.

In Search of American Jewish Culture by Stephen J. Whitfield (1999)

A leading cultural historian explores the complex interactions of Jewish and American cultures in drama, musical comedy, popular song, symphonic music, movies and literature.


The Jewish Heritage in American Folk Art by Norman Kleeblatt and Gerard Wertkin (1984)

This copiously illustrated volume is the first to focus on primitive folk portraiture and folk objects that combine distinctly Jewish themes with American and European folk traditions.


The Jewish Americans directed by David Grublin (2008)

Narrated by Liev Schreiber, this six-hour documentary follows 350 years of Jewish-American history, from the first settlement in the 17th century to the present, and explores the experience of immigration and assimilation.

Chevy Chase At Home Seeks Member and Volunteer Programs Manager (30 Hours a Week or Job Share) 

CC@H is part of the nationwide “village” movement built on a model of “neighbors helping neighbors.” CC@H offers older adults social and educational opportunities as well as a range of volunteer-provided services to support aging in place. The person in this role is an integral part of CC@H’s small professional team and will partner with volunteers. The position is 30 hours per week and could be a job-share position with the right two people working approximately 15 hours a week.
