Dear St.
Patrick's,
Grace and peace. We are now in the midst of August. The pace is
quickening around here in preparation for our new program year that
will begin on Sunday, September 12th. I hope that everyone will try
St. Patrick's again, for the first time.
On Sunday, I challenged the parish to listen to others, in an
effort to forge a deeper personal faith. [Sunday's
Sermon] One such
opportunity, that I mentioned in my sermon, was the upcoming
six-week series titled "Tell It Like It
Is." This small group
study begins the week of September 19th. There are three different
sections: Monday nights 7:00-8:30, Tuesday nights 7:00-8:30, and
Wednesday mornings 9:30-11:00. Use the link above to read more
about this exciting opportunity to grow in your faith, while
acknowledging the diversity that exists in the great cloud of
witnesses, both in the past and present.
Please know that your church is always here to provide support,
whenever you need it. Please call or write us if your clergy and
staff can help in any way.
Faithfully,

The Rev. Dr.
Kurt Gerhard
Rector

This week we welcome back into our midst Soprano
Amanda Brown. Amanda has been here many times over the last number
of years. She is Michael Jobusch's half-sister and has often
stayed here in Washington with the Jobusch's for summer study.
Congratulations are in order this time as Amanda has now completed
her degree in Vocal Performance at Indiana University. Yea!! She
is here just for a week before heading off to graduate school at
Berklee. We are happy to celebrate with her and feel blessed to
have had her share her terrific work with us so many times here at
St. Patrick's. Thank you, Amanda!

Welcome GWU
Students!
|
The Whole Month of August, Bring Items for
Student Care Packages
Did you know that during the 2009-2010 school
year, 4 GW students worshiped with us
regularly?
In just a few weeks, these 4 will return, along
with 500 of their classmates. The Mount Vernon
Campus (or "The Vern" as students call it) is a satellite campus to
the main Foggy Bottom location.
In anticipation of students joining us this fall,
please bring items that we can tuck into gift bags which we will
give them when they visit:
Rolls of quarters for coin-op
laundry
Study snacks: peanut butter crackers,
popcorn, candy, etc.
Metro Smart
Cards
Safeway cards
New pens /
pencils
D.C. postcards and
stamps
Look for the collection bins outside the
Nave.
