For Parents of Rising 6th-9th Graders
From the Rector

Dear St. Patrick's,

Grace and Peace! August has arrived. After weeks of Washington gridlock around the debt ceiling, Congress is on recess. That will lead to lower temperatures, I'm sure. In reading the daily Bible readings for today, I chose the following to be the St. Patrick's Quote of the Day: "When his oppressors were covetous, she [wisdom] stood by him and made him rich." (Wisdom 11.11) My short summary of this verse of scripture is that growing spiritually is a long term investment preparing us to face the joys and sorrows of life. Lifelong discernment and growth are necessary to ground ourselves, wholly, in our own soul. There is no time like the present to recommit yourself to your relationship with God. A quote of the day will be a feature on the St. Patrick's Facebook and Twitter pages.

St. Patrick's is readying plans for our young people. As you know, Sunday School (PK-Grade 6) is already online, ready for your registration. We will soon announce dates for children's choirs, youth group (for middle school and high school), Confirmation (Grade 9 or older), and the yet to named middle school group (formerly known as J2A).

Yes, there are some new things happening at St. Patrick's. Parents of children in grades 6-9 (and anyone else interested in what will be offered for our young people) are invited to one of three information sessions on August 21st, 28th, and September 4th at 11:15am (conveniently scheduled after our regular 10:00am worship service).

Faithfully,

Music Update

This Sunday we have Amanda Brown back with us for one last time before she heads back to college. She teams up with our own stellar Mezzo, Lesley Riddle, for a beautiful duet, "Recordare," from the Verdi Requiem.

Coming up...we have some of our youth sharing their music with us as we enjoy these last few weeks of summer. Have a young person in your household who would like to share something with us? Send me an email with a Sunday you will be in town!

Campaign to Replace Nave Chairs Continues

We have raised enough money via Nave chair dedications to replace half of our aging black Nave chairs, and placed an order for those 120 chairs to arrive in October. But we still have a ways to go, so please click here for a form to dedicate a Nave chair (or more!).

Many thanks to those who have already dedicated chairs!
