Pilgrimage to the Holy Land
St. Patrick's will be partnering with St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church in Bethesda to offer a pilgrimage to the Holy Land from April 1-12, 2013. A pilgrimage is an opportunity to intentionally reflect and learn by following the footsteps of our ancestors. Our trip will include major sites of Palestine including Nazareth, Bethlehem, Jerusalem, the Jordan River, the Sea of Galilee, and Petra (detailed itinerary). During the fall and spring, there will be classes and fellowship opportunities to learn more and build relationships. Please consider joining us during the Easter season of 2013 in the place where our religion took root. It will change the way you see Christianity, and will enhance your personal spiritual journey. Interested in this trip? Please contact Kurt at kurt@stpatrickschurchdc.org. |

Prayer List
We pray for our Rector, The Rev. Dr. Kurt Gerhard, serving this week at our diocesan summer camp in St. Mary's County, Maryland: that all who attend camp stay safe and draw closer to God.
We pray for Keaton Lee who is recovering from foot surgery.
We pray for Alexis Hanford, grand-daughter of Mona and Bill Hanford, who is recovering from multiple surgeries for a serious infection.
We give thanks for Hite Pendleton Geffert and Cara Clausing who will be married this Saturday in St. Paul, Minnesota. Hite grew up at St. Patrick's, and is the son of Paul & Elizabeth Geffert.

Music
Our mezzo-soprano, Lesley Riddle, is back this Sunday to sing one of the most popular contemporary spiritual songs of recent years. It's called "You Raise Me Up" and has been sung by many of today's Gospel singers, most notably Josh Groban. She will also take the lead on Communion music with the wonderful song "Taste and See." Andrea preached about finding/recognizing the "goodness of the Lord" (a line used in the song) this past Sunday and had us all sing the chorus to this song as a finishing meditation. Now that we are all practiced up we can join Lesley on the chorus this week!

This August, Bring Contributions for GWU Welcome Bags
On Sunday, August 26th, more than 500 GW students (mostly first-year students and sophomores) will move into their dorms across the street from St. Patrick's. Help them feel at home by contributing items for welcome bags. Some ideas: study snacks (popcorn, candy bars, mac n cheese, granola bars, gum), rolls of quarters for doing laundry, stamped WDC postcards to send to friends and family, Safeway or CVS gift cards, pens, pencils, highlighters, Metro cards, etc. Every August and September, we invite GW students to worship with us. When they visit, we give them a welcome bag.
Look for the collection bins that will be posted outside the Nave for the next few Sundays.
