Prismatic light on crossSt. Patrick's Episcopal Church

Washington, DC

October 27, 2010

From the Rector
Dear St. Patrick's,

Grace and peace. We are closing in on November 7, the end of the Labor, Love, and Give Stewardship Campaign. As of Monday, fifty-four members have announced their support, but there is still a long way to go before we can claim success. That success depends on everyone pledging to support the ministries of St. Patrick's in 2011. So far, seven people who did not pledge in 2010 have announced their future commitments to this parish's ministry, and twenty have increased their support.

Please take a minute to make your pledge online [PLEDGE NOW]. The public campaign will conclude at our worship service celebrating All Saints on November 7. After that, our dedicated Stewardship Committee, under the leadership of Tricia Duncan and Tad Anderson, will begin making personal phone calls.

Please be aware that the Marine Corp Marathon will be run this Sunday, October 31. As you know, a marathon is a 26.2 mile (equivalent to the distance between Athens and Sparta or 42.195 km) test of endurance. The course can interfere with the traffic flow to Whitehaven Parkway. Please click here to see the road closure list. MacArthur Blvd. at Whitehaven will be closed from 7:42-10:25 a.m. The only access to St. Patrick's will be east on Reservoir to Foxhall Rd. or south on Foxhall Rd. from Nebraska Ave. Please allow extra time. We understand that both the Key Bridge (from 7:30am to 10:30am) and the Chain Bridge (all day Sunday) will be closed.

Faithfully,

Music Update

Two big music weeks!

First - "Hurry On Down," the special mini-musical our 3rd-6th graders have been busy working on, is THIS Sunday! The story of Zacchaeus is the Gospel reading for the day, so we are letting the kids tell this great story of redemption in song. Plan your Marine Corps Marathon detour route now so you won't miss this exciting offering from our young people.

Next - Join us at 9:40 on Nov. 7th, All Saints Sunday for our annual pre-service concert in honor of our loved ones. Beautiful Requiem music from our Cantoris Choir and percussionist, Scott Tiemann marks the day. We also have a spirited and spirit-filled medley from our Cambiata Choir as our Offertory music.

Many thanks to the Orphanos-Hough family for a wonderful musical evening last Saturday! We are so lucky to have them right here in our midst!

Many thanks also to our Nova Lux high-schoolers who joined the Cantoris for our anthem last Sunday!
