Preferred/Chosen First Name Changes

LCCC recognizes that students in our community may use names other than their legal first names to identify themselves.

By selecting a preferred/chosen first name, the individual is agreeing to be referred to by this name in college-related systems (i.e. Banner, Canvas and Degree Works) and documents, as well as email communications, interactions and any processes in which names are used to address an individual, except when the use of the legal name is required by law or the college.

Students can change their preferred name in Self-Service BannerWeb. Detailed instructions are available on the IT Knowledgebase. Changes will be reflected across LCCC systems within 48 hours. Additional student FAQs can be found here.

Note: A preferred/chosen first name is not a legal name change. Students who are legally changing their name should follow the instructions here.

Cougar Cabinet Food Distributions

LCCC offers distributions of pre-packed bags of groceries at the Allentown and Schnecksville locations. Reservations are required. Your reservation enables us to prepare adequate numbers of pre-packed bags for all seeking food assistance. Distributions are free and confidential.

Distribution Dates and Times:

• LCCC Allentown - Thursday, Aug. 24, from 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
• LCCC Schnecksville: Thursday, Aug. 24, from 2 - 5 p.m.

To RSVP:

1. Select the location that works best for you.
2. Send an email message to the Office of Community Resources and Basic Needs at communityresources@lccc.edu.
3. In your email message, include your name, L#, day and the selected LCCC location. You must be enrolled in courses to participate in the food distribution program.
4. After you send your message, you will receive additional information.

LCCC Tamaqua

The Tamaqua site now has a food cabinet in room 203, offering prepackaged pantry boxes and a selection of grocery staples. All members of the LCCC community are welcome to visit the cabinet once a week.

Hours are subject to change each semester due to staff availability.

• Mondays: 12:45 - 4 p.m.
• Tuesdays: 11 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
• Wednesdays: 4 - 5 p.m.
• Thursdays: 4 - 5 p.m.
• Fridays: 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Pantry boxes are available at the Morgan Center front desk during regular business hours of 8 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday-Thursday; and 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Friday. All visits are free and confidential. Cougar Cabinet appointments are also available upon request by calling 570-668-6880 or emailing morganreception@lccc.edu.

Fall term is right around the corner. It's time for you to gear up and square up.

Time to gear up. Get emotionally prepared. It will be exciting and stressful. Each term brings new opportunities and challenges. Wonderful things await!

Time to square up. Get those non-college items squared away as much as possible. you will need to save energy for all the new information that will be shared with you once the term starts. Get ready!

Student Photo IDs

Student ID badges are used to obtain access to college services: the library, computer labs, the testing center, etc. If you are not wearing a badge, you may be stopped and asked to identify yourself and your purpose on campus. You may be asked to retrieve your badge. you may be denied access to specific college services and/or activities.

In addition to discounts to area eateries like Back Home Bagels and The Red Tomato, student and employee IDs can be used to check out library materials or access the campus gym.

Students must be enrolled in at least one class to obtain a student ID.

You will need to present a valid government-issued photo ID and your L#. All students should obtain a picture identification card from the Office of Registration and Student Records, located in Student Services Center 122 at Main Campus, or at the Donley or Morgan Centers at the front desk.

Sign Up for LCCC Alerts

LCCC delivers fast notifications about campus emergencies and weather closings and delays. Sign up for the Omnilert notification system here. You can sign up with any username and password you choose, then customize how you receive the alerts: text, email, phone call, or all three. Also, if you already have an account, confirm that your contact information on Omnilert is correct and up-to-date.

Summer 2023 Tutoring

The college offers a variety of free tutoring services to enrolled LCCC students.

Face-to-Face tutoring is available at the Schnecksville Campus (SH150). Labs are open (walk-in); no appointment needed. Up-to-date schedules are posted in the portal.

Remote tutoring appointments are booked online by students. LCCC tutors meet virtually through Zoom. Book up to 2 non-consecutive appointments a day for tutoring in the same course.

NetTutor online tutoring has replaced Smarthinking as our online tutoring platform. NetTutor is free to students and available after typical working hours and on weekends. Professional tutors provide both synchronous and asynchronous tutoring. NetTutor is accessed by clicking the link in your course menu in Canvas.

Preferred/Chosen First Name, Pronouns, and Gender Identification

It's so easy to change and submit your preferred or chosen first name and pronouns to LCCC. Just go to the LCCC portal, sign in with your username and password, and see these step-by-step instructions.

Students may also submit requests for name changes in Google Workspace, including their "Display Name" in their email. Request information and find step-by-step instructions here in the LCCC IT knowledgebase. If you need further technical assistance, please visit the student technology help desk.

Disability Support for Classes

Students with disabilities may qualify for academic accommodations at LCCC. If you had an IEP or 504 plan in high school or have a diagnosed disability, please reach out to Disability Support Services (DSS).

If you have had accommodations, remember that you need to renew them each semester. Contact DSS by emailing dss@lccc.edu or calling 610-799-1156. You can also stop by our offices in SH 150.

Need support for injuries, illness, and pregnancy? We offer short-term support through our temporary impairment policy. Have a great semester!

December 2023 Graduation Application Open

To determine if you are eligible to graduate, check your progress in Degree Works, which can be accessed through your myLCCC portal. If you believe that you have met the requirements for graduation, complete the graduation application.

If you are currently taking classes in the term that you want to graduate, you can still apply for graduation. Just be sure that you will meet all the requirements, except the final grade(s). Any course substitutions or transfer credits should be processed and approved before the term of graduation.

Applying for graduation does not mean that you need to attend a ceremony. That choice will be presented to you at a later date. There are no ceremonies held for December and August, but these graduates will be invited to attend the May commencement ceremony at the PPL Center in Allentown.

LCCC Foundation to Match Pediatric Cancer Foundation Scholarships

The LCCC Foundation has created a fund to match scholarships from the Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley (PCFLV), which will be awarded to students who are attending LCCC.

PCFLV offers local pediatric cancer warriors a one-time, $3,000 scholarship to college or trade school. In addition, one-time, $1,500 scholarships are offered to local children who lost a sibling to cancer. For those who choose to attend LCCC, they will receive a matching donation thanks to a new fund called the Pediatric Cancer Foundation Fund. The match will go toward tuition, books or fees.

Sign Up for Self Service Password Resets

You have the power to reset your own password for your LCCC identity. Please read the important information below for more details to enroll.

When logging into your Banner home page, you should be prompted to set a security question and answer. Most importantly, set a secondary email for your LCCC identity account. This cannot be your LCCC email. You won't be able to reset your password without a secondary email. You can also set a voice call, an SMS text number, or both if you prefer to use these methods. If you have any problems or questions, please visit LCCC's IT knowledgebase for an article on how to update your password reset options.

National Student Clearinghouse: Myhub

Myhub is an online platform that integrates all of a learner's accomplishments into a single, secure location (also known as a digital locker), no matter where, when, or how those learning achievements were earned. LCCC students can access enrollment/degree verifications, electronic transcript requests, and much more through Myhub. For more information, check out our how-to document.

Work On Campus: LCCC Is Hiring Student Employees

There are many opportunities to work at LCCC as a student. Positions are on-campus and in-person. Most available jobs pay $10/hour. We will work around your class schedule!

Eligible students must be enrolled in a minimum of six credits for the fall and complete a 22/23 FAFSA. Background clearances are required, but fees will be paid by LCCC.

More than 20 on-campus positions are currently available. Student employees may begin working prior to the beginning of classes. On-campus jobs are posted online on the LCCC Cougar CLAW website.

View open positions and job descriptions in your CLAW account . Go to Jobs>Search>Position Type>On-Campus Employment. 

The application is included with each posted job description. Just complete the application, save it to your device and email it to careerservices@lccc.edu.

Set Up Your LCCC Cougar Claw Account

All students currently enrolled in credit courses have an LCCC Cougar CLAW account. Please follow these steps to set up a password. 

• See job postings from local employers
• Apply to jobs
• Upload documents such as resumes and cover letters for review
• View upcoming Career Development events.

How To Set-Up Your Account in The Cougar CLAW:

1. Go to https://lccc-csm.symplicity.com/students/.
2. Click on the "Forgot Password" button.
3. Complete the form by listing your Username/Student ID number which begins with a capital L followed by 8 digits.
4. An email from "careerservices" containing a link will immediately be sent to your LCCC email account. Within 24 hours of receiving the email, click on the link provided to create a new password. This email is only valid for 24 hours.
5. You now have completed the set-up process for your account in The Cougar CLAW!

SNAP and TANF Students!

If you receive SNAP or TANF you may be eligible to receive $1500 yearly in gas assistance to attend classes, $1000 in books and supplies and assistance with school supplies, photocopying and much more!



KEYS (Keystone Education Yields Success) is a grant funded educational program that allows qualified students to receive additional services and support while completing their degree at LCCC. These supports may include assistance with books and supplies, daycare, mileage and car repairs. Visit our website to learn more about the KEYS Program and how it may benefit you! Child Care/Early Education Assistance

The Community Services for Children provides early education services via programs such as Head Start and Pre-K Counts at no cost to income eligible families. For more information, you can call 610-432-5700 or click apply to complete an enrollment application.

Discounted LANTA Bus Passes

20% discounts on LANTA bus passes are available for purchase at the LCCC Business Office, SSC 100. The Business Office offers 31-day passes and 10-ride passes.

Students and SNAP

Second Harvest Food Bank, has been working with the Food Access & Policy Council to encourage eligible students to take advantage of the SNAP (Food Stamps) program.

Students can contact the Second Harvest Food Bank SNAP outreach program for assistance with the application process. A SNAP Coordinator will work with students to determine eligibility and help answer any questions. 

You can also review Students-and-SNAP-FAQS to help answer frequently asked questions. Even if you believe you do not meet the Student Eligibility Criteria, you are still encouraged to apply and work with a SNAP outreach coordinator to determine your SNAP eligibility.

Lifeline Program for Low-Income Consumers

The Lifeline Program provides a discount on phone service for qualifying low-income consumers. The program helps ensure the security that phone service brings, including being able to connect to jobs, family and emergency services. Click here for more information.

Housing Choice Voucher Program Section 8

The Housing Choice Voucher Program is the federal government's major program for assisting very low-income families, the elderly, and individuals with a disability to afford decent, safe, and sanitary housing in the private market. Since housing assistance is provided on behalf of the family or individual, participants are able to find their own housing, including single-family homes, townhouses, and apartments.
